Dear Community Member,

On Tuesday, September 18, at approximately 1130am, a Hatzalah Chicago Paramedic's POV (emergency vehicle) was stolen from the 7-11 on Touhy and California. The POV contains upwards of $30,000 in lifesaving emergency medical equipment. The POV is a SILVER 2018 FORD ESCAPE. Tag # DL261BC.

Since the vehicle has an off-white "dealer" tag (license plate), it will be easier to identify any silver Ford Escape (tag starts with DL). Please be on the lookout. If seen, call 9-1-1 immediately (and then 847-454-0800).

Attached are pics representing the type of vehicle stolen as well as some of the medical equipment. Also stolen was the tallit bag that was personally made by the Paramedic's mother.

Thank you for your help.

The Asifa will take place this Thursday, September 13th at 1 PM. It is our hope that by coming together as a community, the Ribono Shel Olam will bentsh us with a year filled with simcha and bracha, where we will know no more sorrow.” To take part in the event, join the livestream here of YWN, at Misaskim.org or by calling Kol Mevaser at 212-444-1100 and follow the prompts 8 and then 1 Click here.

Return and Renewal Reflections on Teshuva and Spiritual Growth

The process of repentance, teshuva, presents each of us with both challenges and opportunities. While self-scrutiny, confession, and commitment to change are among the most difficult human undertakings, the very process of renewing and reconnecting – to ourselves and to God – is a gift that can fundamentally repair us, our communities, and society at large. In his annual discourses on repentance, Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein zt”l set out to make the elusive path of teshuva more navigable. Return and Renewal collects twelve of these public lectures, adapted for print by Michael S. Berger and Reuven Ziegler. In these essays, Rabbi Lichtenstein marshals a broad array of Jewish sources, along with classics of the Western tradition and his own sensitivity to the human condition, to examine the psychological, emotional, and spiritual elements of sin and repentance. By exploring the habits and impulses that may prevent enduring change or abet it, Return and Renewal provides a high-resolution map of our spiritual lives as we embark on our journeys of religious growth.(From Koren)
