From one of the teachers at Reb. Altusky's seminary: Tehillim mechulak l'refuas Fruma Rochel Bas Basha We are gathering together in a joint effort to daven for a Refuah Sh'leima for Rebetzin Altusky, Fruma Rochel Bas Basha. She was hit by a car last week and is dealing with multiple injuries, a collapsed lung, and is on a respirator. Tonight's Tehillim conference call went very well, b'h. It should be a zchus for a refuah shleima for Rebetzin Altusky, our tefillos should be answered . Tomorrow night iyh and until further notice, we will be holding a tehillim conference call at the same time. 10:00 pm Israel time, 3:00 pm NY time. It went for 15 minutes, but we plan to go a bit longer tomorrow night. We had close to 50 people tonight, on very short notice, and hope to have more tomorrow iyh. Additionally, several people called in too late, we had already finished. As I said, we'll go a little longer tomorrow iyh, we didn't know how much we'd have time for and didn't want to overshoot. The number for the call is 401-694-1602, the pin number is 9303. When you join, please press 6 to mute your phone, and if you hang up before it's over, exit the call first by pressing 3. We have created a google spreadsheet that will allow you to sign up for perakim to say daily for the refuah sheleima of Rebbetzin Altusky. The spreadsheet is divided by individual perakim, but you can certainly sign up for multiple perakim. However, please only sign up for as many perakim as you feel you can say. If for whatever reason you realize you cannot commit to saying the perakim you have signed up for, please remove your name and those slots will become available for someone else to take. We would like to finish sefer Tehillim as many times as possible, so please only sign up in the open slots that are part of a started column. As each column is completed, we can start subsequent ones. (at the top of the column, it will state the percentage of how full it is ). The spreadsheet is cloud-based so any and all changes you make are automatically saved and everyone can see. As such, please refrain from making any formatting changes. We are making a commitment at this time until shiva asar b'tamuz, (July 7) , iy'h we hope that Reb Altusky will have a complete refuah by then, but we will check in at that time, and renew our commitments if necessary. Thank you to Bracha Berman and Atara Weiss for organizing and administrating this effort. Any questions or comments should please be directed to Bracha at bberman521@gmail.com and to Atara at ataraweissk@gmail.com. They are also responsible to add columns as needed. [chicago-aneinu] Please Daven for Jonathan Pollard

From: "admin@CholimList.org" In the next day or two, Israeli President Shimon Peres is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Obama. Peres says that he will ask Obama to grant a pardon for Jonathan Pollard on humanitarian grounds. I had the pleasure of meeting briefly with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Richard Stone this past Sunday. (A bit of name dropping). He spoke at a graduation and I asked him afterwards about Pollard. He replied that it is a very big week. For some reason, Pollard's pleas have not been positively received for over 26 years! What better way to break down the hardened hearts of those who reject Pollard's plea than to say some additional Tehillim these next couple days. Just think about it - over 26 years in harsh conditions. Wouldn't you want it be done for you! Please daven for Yehonaton ben Malka.

Psalms Chapter 6

1 For the Leader; with string-music; on the Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
2 O LORD, rebuke me not in Thine anger, neither chasten me in Thy wrath.
3 Be gracious unto me, O LORD, for I languish away; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are affrighted.
4 My soul also is sore affrighted; and Thou, O LORD, how long?
5 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul; save me for Thy mercy's sake.
6 For in death there is no remembrance of Thee; in the nether-world who will give Thee thanks?
7 I am weary with my groaning; every night make I my bed to swim; I melt away my couch with my tears.
8 Mine eye is dimmed because of vexation; it waxeth old because of all mine adversaries.
9 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
10 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD receiveth my prayer.
11 All mine enemies shall be ashamed and sore affrighted; they shall turn back, they shall be ashamed suddenly.

JI AND JMR Naftali Kalfa ft. Shlomo Katz – Tzion

Naftali Kalfa is a businessman and singer/composer who was born in Toronto, Canada on February 22nd, 1981. He is the eldest of eleven brothers and sisters. Naftali is happily married to Tamar kalfa and is the father to four amazing children, who serve as his strength and inspiration. Music has always had a deep place in Naftali’s life; from a young age he would sing and lead performances and prayer in shuls, school choirs and at events. Naftali attributes his love of music to his mother who is a very talented singer and musician. Naftali appreciates quality music from many genres and his musical influences are diverse, and span from Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach to Hasidic and rock music. Naftali’s first musical production was a collaboration with the Piamenta Brothers , on an album titled “Yihiyu Leratzon“. He is currently finishing a new album project which features guest artists such as Shlomo Katz, Gad Elbaz, rapper Shyne, and Yossi Piamenta. The song “Zion” is the first single released from the new album and features Shlomo Katz, an artist who deeply identifies with Carlebach music. Shlomo Katz is a singer whose musical talent is deeply rooted; his father Avshalom is a well-known musician and chazzan, and his brother Eitan Katz is a famous singer/composer. Stemming from the warmth and love of music installed in him throughout his childhood by his father, Shlomo began to delve into the world of music at the age of 14, immediately after the passing of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, of blessed memory. Shlomo was ordained a rabbi after years of study in Yeshivat Hamivtar. He combines the world of music with the world of Torah through his performances and classes, given around the world. Over the years Shlomo has released six albums, two with his brother Eitan and three solo albums: “VeHakohanim“, “Malei Olam“, “Live in Melbourne” and an album of rare Carlebach melodies with Chaim Dovid and Aaron Razel. Shlomo is best known for his original melodies of ‘Niggun Nevo‘ and ‘Shabbos Kodesh‘.

CCHF [chicago-aneinu] Request for Tehillim

From MIchael Rothschild at Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation: I have a good friend, Yisrael Landsman, who is extremely sick with a violent and deadly form of cancer. (He lost a daughter to cancer a year ago and another child to crib death). He is, in my opinion, one of the Lamed Vav tzadikim (the 36 Hidden Tzadikim) of our generation. His Ahavas Yisrael is on just about the highest level I’ve ever seen in a person. He is in NYU Hospital and is in desperate, desperate need of a Yeshua. I would greatly appreciate if you could say Tehilim for him and place his name on any Tehilim lists you can. Yisroel Refoel ben Sara Nesha May Hasehm send Yisrael, his family and all families a Refuah Sheleima besoch shear cholei Yisrael.

[chicago-aneinu] Update on Yaakov Yosef ben Raizel's status

To all of Klal Yisroel, There have been many rumors going around recently and many have been asking, "What's with Yaakov Yosef?" To all our dear brothers and sisters: Yaakov Yosef is still sitting all alone in Japan. He waits each and every day to be reunited with his loving family. It has been a very, very long time! PLEASE keep Yaakov Yosef ben Raizel in your tefillos (prayers). Don't forget our dear brother! Speak with your family, friends, neighbors and shuls- Yaakov Yosef awaits our tefillos to bring him home!! Below is an update we received from the askonim involved: I just want to clarify the situation after many rumours regarding the transfer of Yakov Yosef and after a day of non stop enquires from all over the world. The situation is unfortunately pretty the same as of before Pesach but with one movement that triggered the recent rumours. The Ministry of Justice in Japan have still not sent their final approval. Just to make it clear: All permits from both sides have been obtained and completed last September and then we had the many enquires for many months until a few days before Pesach. The recent messages/reports etc... are based on a form that was given to Yakov Yosef to sign last week. This form is a standard form that is given to prisoners who are awaiting to be transferred and this is probably a sign that the Japanese will send their final approval shortly. The final approval is a letter that states that "they give their final consent for the transfer to be expedited" and they "request the Israelis to make arrangements with their office for the Israeli police to come to Japan to collect Yakov Yosef - The Israelis would in turn agree a date with the Japanese, book flights for their pre selected wardens who would fly out a few days before the agreed day so that they can rest after their long haul flight. On the day of transfer Yakov Yosef would be brought to the airport and handed over to the two Israeli police who would be waiting by the entrance of the plane together with a batch of documents, and then its all over! We do very much hope and daven that last week's event is a signal that the Japanese have decided to send their final approval very shortly. Please continue to daven for Yakov Yosef ben Raizel that he returns home very soon.

YWN Yaakov Yosef Signs Paper To Come From Japan To Israel

The last bachur imprisoned in Japan, Yakov Yosef ben Reisel has just signed a document for Japanese authorities that should clear the way for his transport from Japan to Israel. Last week, Yaakov Yosef signed a document for Japanese officials permitting his transfer to an Israeli prison. Askanim dealing with hi case explain the signing was a necessary formality before his actual transfer. Israeli officials have been waiting to hear from their Japanese counterparts of a date for Yaakov Yosef’s transfer. While there were high expectations before Pesach, this did not occur and now, after Shavuos, there are efforts taking place Due to the complexities of the case and dealing with the Japanese government, his arrival is not likely to be announced ahead of time but rather it will be announced after the fact to avoid chas v’sholom doing anything that might prevent the transfer. (YWN – Israel Desk, Jerusalem)

YWN Shomrei Emunim Rebbe Being Moved for Rehab

The Shomrei Emunim Rebbe Shlita was moved from Bikur Cholim Hospital in Yerushalayim to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer for rehabilitation. According to Dr. Rafael Pollack, Bikur Cholim’s medical director, the rebbe’s recovery is truly miraculous. The rebbe was brought in after suffering cardiac arrest. Dr. Pollack reports the rebbe invited him to his home in Bnei Brak and when the rebbe was leaving the hospital, he thanked the medical team for the excellent care. Chadrei Chareidim reports that medical askan Rav Yitzchok Stern; a Vishnitzer chossid oversaw the rebbe’s treatment. He was also responsible for the medical care of the Yehoshuas Moshe ZT”L, the previous Vishnitzer rebbe. (YWN – Israel Desk, Jerusalem)

YWN Another Update on Rav Elyashiv Shlita

The following update is from Chadrei Chareidim. Shaare Zedek Hospital officials report that Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita is improving and is now in better condition than he has been during recent months during his stay in the intensive care unit. Last shabbos, the rav was taken out on the balcony for 20 minutes, and while he tried speaking, his words were not understood. On Sunday, at the behest of medical askan R’ Elimelech Fuehrer, a procedure was performed to close the opening made by the tracheostomy, and the rav’s voice was once again audible. Advertise On YWN » Yesterday (15 Sivan 5772), the rav spoke with family members and with R’ Fuehrer, with the latter inquiring as to his condition. Today, rabbonim close to the rav, including HaGaon HaRav Yosef Efrati and HaGaon HaRav Kook visited. During recent days, the rav has been davening from a siddur. This afternoon, mincha was held with a minyan in his room and he wore his hat and jacket. The rav has also begun eating regularly, by mouth, and in an exceptional move, the hospital has permitted certain cooked foods to be brought in since the rav does not eat food prepared out of his home. The tzibur is requested to continue being mispallel for Rav Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Musha b’soch kol cholei am yisrael. (YWN – Israel Desk, Jerusalem)

This glorious kesser Torah will illuminate the world. Torah is their life’s joy, fulfillment and toil. In honor of the grand events, Dirshu is honored to present to program participants, their families – and all of Klal Yisroel – songs of simcha and hisorerus that reflect the heartfelt emotions that engulf us. Several months ago, the organization reached out to a number of composers, and asked them to create compositions in honor of this momentous event. Many composers rose to the challenge and created spectacular songs. However at the end of the day Dirshu chose two of Moshe Laufer’s stellar compositions to be anthems of their upcoming siyum hashas. The other two songs were written by Rav Dovid Hofstedter, Nasi of “Dirshu” Worldwide. While Moshe Laufer was just contacted for the compositions, he was so impressed with the work of this amazing organization and what they are doing for Klal Yisroel, that he wanted a bigger role in this production. Moshe then decided to arrange and conducted ALL of the music for this unique project. With songs like these gems it was important to get singers who could really give over their meaning and simcha to the listeners. It was then that chassidic superstars Reb Isaac Honig, Reb Shloimy Daskal and Reb Yermiah Damen were approached to sing on this album, which they happily agreed to do. The fourth song on the album features Eli Laufer and yeled hapella Efraim Manat. All of the choirs were arranged by Eli Laufer. Hoyu Nechonim will be sent to all members to Dirshu and is being distributed by Sameach Music to stores worldwide. It is also available on Sameach Music’s website www.JewishJukebox.com. Hoyu Nechonim is being sold at a special price, JUST $2.99.

[chicago-aneinu] URGENT! Please Daven for Yaakov Ostreicher

Please daven for Yaakov Yehuda ben Shaindel, Yaakov Ostreicher in prison in Bolivia. Yanky Ostreicher to Be Penalized for Talking to the Media Monday June 4, 2012 10:37 AM Yanky Ostreicher has been served a notification that he will be penalized for 15 days for talking to the media in Bolivian and the media in the United States, Matzav.com has been told. The notification states that he mentioned drug use and other activities in the Nightline interview, and Bolivian authorities claim that this will cause a riot in the prison. It should be noted, however, that Yanky never mentioned any of this during the interview with Nightline. The mention of drug use and other information was actually taken from the ABC archives. Yanky’s interview was strictly about his suffering and his family’s suffering, and he was featured in that ABC News report for just a few seconds. The notification by the Bolivian prison authorities does not state what the penalty will be or when it will be implemented. Standard procedure in Bolivia is to penalize prisoners by sending them to Chonchocorito. “In Chonchocorito, you kill or you get killed. The government obviously wants Jacob out of the way,” a source told Matzav.com. More from the source: “Years ago, Palmasola Prison was run by 300 prisoners who would call the prisoners’ families, and, while they were on the phone, would beat every prisoner senseless until the family gave up all of their possessions. Many prisoners died as a result of these beatings. Families would sell their homes, cars and anything else they owned to make the beatings stop. 4 years ago, the prisoners rioted and murdered 10 of these gangsters. The government removed the 290 gangsters and put them in a separate prison called Chonchocorito.” {Noam Amdurski-Matzav.com Newscenter}

[chicago-aneinu] Update on Boy in Lag B'Omer Fire

Chasdei Hashem! Update on Avraham Abba ben Beruriah, the boy burned in the Lag B'Omer fire. I just wanted to let you know that Avremi is doing GREAT. He had an appointment today with the plastic surgeon and he was amazed at how well his burns are healing. He only has one arm bandaged and the back of his knee. His face is smooth and has no scarring and his arms and legs will be OK. He is very determined. Last week he worked hard to get his left hand to move and to bend all his fingers and wrist. The occupational therapist couldn’t believe that this was the same kid she saw a week earlier. Then she ordered a special splint for his arm and wrist and when she saw him she said he didn’t need it. He is a special little boy.
