Ywn Heartrending: Israeli Mother Of 6 & Teenage Daughter In Critical Condition, Toddler In Tzfat

An Israeli 41-year-old mother of six with no preexisting medical conditions was hospitalized in the ICU in recent days in serious condition after contracting the coronavirus. To the family’s shock and dismay, on Sunday, the woman’s 15-year-old daughter who had also contracted the virus was also hospitalized in the ICU after suffering a deterioration in her condition. All seven members of the Chareidi family, residents of Ashkelon, began to feel ill about a week ago, subsequently testing positive for the coronavirus. Several days later, the mother was evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center due to breathing difficulties. Late last week, she suffered a further deterioration in her condition and was sedated and ventilated. The situation is especially tragic as the mother has been raising her six children alone for the past several years, Kikar H’Shabbos reported. Another report on Sunday said that a healthy 14-month-old in Tzfat with no preexisting medical conditions was hospitalized in serious condition after contracting the coronavirus. The public is asked to daven for Meirav Orit bas Kokava and Avishag bas Meirav Orit l’refuah sheleimah b’toch shaar cholei Yisrael. The Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon opened up a new coronavirus ward on Sunday, its fourth one. “Unfortunately, the number of coronavirus patients arriving at the hospital in critical condition has increased, and as a result we decided to open another coronavirus ward today,” Prof. Yaniv Sherer, director of Barzilai, said on Sunday. “In addition to the coronavirus wards, we operate designated coronavirus areas in the pediatric ward, the respiratory intensive care unit, the pediatric intensive care unit, the maternity unit, the delivery ward, and the neonatal intensive care unit.” (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagaon HaRav Meshulam Dovid Halevi Soloveitchik ZATZAL, Rosh Yeshivas Brisk. He was 99.
The Rosh Yeshivah contracted the coronavirus in October and after initially being treated at home, was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem after his condition worsened and was subsequently sedated and ventilated.
He was released to his home in early December, where a private ICU unit had been set up. His condition continued to deteriorate, until his Petira early Sunday morning.
The Niftar is the fifth of twelve children and the third son born to the Brisker Rov, Hagaon HaRav Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik and his Rebbitzen Alte Hindl. His exact date of his birth is unknown, but it is known that his older brother Reb Chaim was born in January 1920 and his younger brother Reb Refoel Yehoshua was born in spring 1924.
The Rosh Yeshiva emigrated to Mandatory Palestine with his father during World War II, and they settled in Yerushalayim. He married the daughter of HaRav Asher Sternbuch of London. He is the brother-in-law of Hagaaon HaRav Sternbuch, the Posek from Yerushalayim.
In the late 1970s, he opened opened his yeshiva in the Gush Shemonim section of the Givat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Levaya details will be published when they become available to us.
Boruch Dayan HaEmmes…

Chaverim is requesting for everyone to stay home and not do any driving this evening unless it is absolutely an emergency because the roads are bad and cars are getting stuck especially minivans. It is very icy slippery and dangerous to be out there at this time. Thank you!

aneinu Extreme urgent tefillos - Expectant and new mothers

Please read this heartbreaking note received signed " Rabbi Shlomo Goldman" With tears and a broken heart from what I have seen in my family and so many others I need to update you on our situation. After a week of being incubated and put on a respirator the doctors have told us that we need Rachamei Shamayim for my daughter in law, as her situation has deteriorated and they need to move her to a hospital at Tel HaShomer where special equipment is located. It is an ECMO machine that basically oxygenates the blood outside of the body, letting the lungs and heart rest. Hashem Ya'azor. I am asking for anyone that sees this message to cry out to the heavens for the sake of my daughter in law, her baby that was delivered weeks early with a C section and for all those in Klal Yisroel suffering from this dreaded virus. Please say 3 perakim of Tehillim, now if possible, and submit her name to all lists so that others can daven on her behalf. Only through tefilla and teshuvah will we get past this difficult period.
