It goes without saying, that none of the stories of Tanach can be understood properly with a superficial reading of the p'sukim. Nor can any of the great leaders of B'nei Yisroel can be understood through the simple understanding of the text of Tanach. Thus, when faced with a leader of our nation like Shimshon, a Shofeit, we must not be fooled by the story we read. We must probe to the depths to grasp the truth.
