A short Insight into SHMUEL 2, Chapter 9 By Rabbi Nisson Dov Miller

(PLEASE LEARN FOR A RUFUA SHELAMA FOR THE GEDOLIM Rav Elyashiv -Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Musha, Rav Shteinman - Aaron Yehuda Leib ben Gitel Feiga, Rav Weiss - Yitzchak Tuvia ben Rikal, Rav Belsky - Yisroel ben Chana Tzirtel, Rav Yosef - Yaakov Chai ben Margalit And Telzer Rosh Yeshiva, Yitxchok Izak ben Trina Devorah for a refuah shleima b’soch kol cholei am Yisrael.) Verse six of our chapter reads, “Mefiboshes son of Yonasan son of Shaul came before David and fell upon his face and prostrated himself.” After reading this verse, we probably are reminded of other verses in Tanach that list more than two generations when identifying a person. We know that parshas Pinchas begins with, “Pinchas ben Elazar ben Aharon.” Parshas Korach begins with “Korach ben Yitzhar ben K'has ben Levi.” In each instance, Chazal and the commentators teach us special lessons that are to be learned from the seemingly extra generation(s) that are mentioned. What do we learn from our verse?
