WARNING!
3 ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTIONS
IN BROOKLYN
A Teachable Moment ...
I am writing today to inform you that there were three attempted abductions of children ages 9-12 in Boro Park this past Motzei Shabbos as reported in
Yeshiva World News:

Click here or on the picture to download it and share it with your children
B'chasdei Hashem, the children were frightened and ran home, and NYPD is increasing patrols.

This is a teachable moment for parents and caregivers everywhere to speak to your children about stranger danger as well as personal safety, and to supervise your children carefully over Yom Kippur and Succos (while keeping in mind that over 90% of all cases of child abuse occur with someone the child knows well and trusts).

Research clearly shows that it is unhelpful and even counterproductive to frighten your children when having these discussions (a moderate amount of concern is just right — similar to the way you would talk to them about crossing the street carefully).

Here is a link to our free 9-minute safety video https://youtu.be/Uxj_tsDOOGI that will give you the tools to have effective safety conversations with your children. If you don't already have a copy of "Let's Stay Safe!" at home, click here for a downloadable, read-along version of our safety book that you can enjoy with your children. "Let's Stay Safe!" is available at all Judaica stores and for purchase online at https://csstore.thebrightbeginnings.com/

Best wishes for a G'mar Chasima Tova,
Yakov Horowitz
