Dear Or Menorah Friends & Members,

There are disturbing rumors that some shuls and kollels have chosen to hold minyanim of 10 or so men separated inside a building In
some way and that there are some backyard minyanim planned too. This is due to governor's unfortunate announcement last Friday that up to ten people may gather to worship legally together.
We all miss shul, but we must understand that the measures that we have taken in Chicago until now have prevented the plagues that hit the frum areas in NY & NJ just weeks ago. People are still dying every day!
So many we know have died or are still critical.  It is not time to let down our guard. The virus continues to spread! There is no vaccine yet. I don't want to get it and neither do you.  B"H none of our members have reported testing positive!
With consultation of doctors and our Dayaninm in the cRc & the Agudah, reopening our shuls at this time, even limited, is dangerous to all and could contribute to a serious setback for our community, It is a matter of pikuach nefesh, and erring on the side of caution can save your lives and ours.
Backyard minyanim should not be take place, and no one should be attending these dangerous mini mimyanim inside any shuls - with or without masks, at this time.  We must all maintain social distancing with people outside of our homes. The last thing we need is a spike in Covid-19 cases among our neighbors.
We will continue to follow the Psak of our Rabbimic bodies and the advice of our doctors. We will all continue to daven at home and we will keep ourselves and our families safe.
Wishing you all another quarantined Shabbat of health and peace!
Shabbat Shalom!
Rabbi Doug Zelden

Haftorah Emor  - Ezekiel 44:15     page 528 in the Hertz Chumash

This week's Haftorah is among the prophecies of Yechezkel describing the third Bait Hamikdash. Yechezkel prophesized after the destruction of the first Bait Hamikdash in the year 3352-410 b.c.e. In the Haftorah, Yechezkel instructed the Kohanim in their unique laws. It relates to this week's Parsha which also details many of the laws imposed specifically on the Kohanim.
