News from the Agudah:

  • Tonight, Agudath Israel's Project LEARN department will be hosting a webinar on Parenting Your Child With Special Needs During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Noted psychologist Dr. David Pelcovitz will address the concerns of parents of children with special needs and the unique situation such families face. Please see below for more information.

  • In case you missed our earlier email today, the Agudah has released a letter signed by three senior members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rabbi Dovid Feinstein, and Rabbi Aharon Feldman, for purposes of clarification. Click here to view the letter.

  • It has been brought to our attention that on the Agudath Israel calendar for 5780 (2019-2020), indicates that the next cycle of Pirkei Avos begins on Shabbos, 7 Sivan/May 30. However, as this is the second day of Shavuos, Pirkei Avos is not said on that Shabbos. Therefore, please mark your calendar with the updated corrected schedule of Pirkei Avos, found below, for the remainder of 5780.

  • Yesterday, May 20th, Rabbi Yeruchim Silber, our New York director of government affairs, was asked to give the opening prayer at the Bruderhof Virtual Garden Brunch. Click here to view the video and transcript of his prayer.
  • Navigating shidduchim during this uncertain time is tricky. But shidduchim must continue. To help those in shidduchim navigate this process in a safe and responsible manner, Compass Shidduch Network, a new division of Agudath Israel, has consulted with experts to provide safe and legal option for social distancing shidduch dates, and has created recommendations and scoured across the U.S. for suitable and safe locations for them. Of course, any advice given should be taken in consultation with your Rav for individual guidance, and those with the minhag to meet at a beshoh will have different guidance. To receive the Covid-19 Shidduch recommendations, or to offer to host a site for Shidduch dating, email meetinglocations@compassshidduch.org or call 347-831-7822. For other questions regarding shidduchim during Covid-19, email Rabbi Yechiel Rhine at yrhine@compassshidduch.org or call 929-210-1524.

Tonight: Project LEARN Presents a Webinar on Parenting Your Child With Special Needs During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Agudath Israel's Project LEARN is delighted to announce an upcoming webinar devoted exclusively to parents of children with special needs. While all of us have been effected by this pandemic, parents of children with special needs have been particularly challenged: their child's therapies, schedules and daily routines have been uprooted, causing upheaval and stress.

Tonight, May 21st, at 9:00 PM EDT, noted psychologist Dr. David Pelcovitz will present a unique webinar addressing the concerns of parents of children with special needs. Dr. Pelcovitz will address the unique situation such families face, and will talk about easing the stress on the family.

Mrs. Leah Steinberg, director of Project LEARN, explained that, "the complexities of parenting during "shelter in place" is exacerbated for parents attempting to juggle the needs of typically developing children together with those with special needs." She said, as well, that, due to every parent's individual experience, the program will end with an extensive Q&A session. In order to maintain confidentiality, all question will need to be submitted prior to the event.

To submit questions for the Q&A portion email projectlearn@agudah.org
