As is known, many states are experiencing a significant surge of COVID-19 cases. Yesterday, the mayor of Chicago issued a mandatory 14 day quarantine on people that travel from those states going into effect July 6th.

Based on information and guidance we have recently received, we would advise that it would be prudent for the Jewish community of Chicago to implement this policy immediately and retroactively. Those who have recently traveled to any of those states should self-quarantine immediately until 14 days have elapsed since arriving in Chicago. Unfortunately, several Jewish communities around the country have already experienced a rise in cases directly related to travel from these states. Some have even needed to close their day camps and renew restrictions. This level of precaution on our part can help prevent a potential second wave in our community.

This currently applies to the following states:

·       Alabama
·       Arkansas
·       Arizona
·       California
·       Florida
·       Georgia
·       Idaho
·       Louisiana
·       Mississippi
·       North Carolina
·       Nevada
·       South Carolina
·       Tennessee
·       Texas
·       Utah

Pirchei Day Camp will be implementing this policy, effective immediately. Anyone who has traveled to one of these high risk states may not attend camp until after a 14 day quarantine with no symptoms.

May we be zoche to continued shemira and not experience any new cases in our community.
