Dear Aneinu Members,
I hope to see you this Sunday night, Tu B'Shvat, at 8 PM at Adas Yeshurun, where we will be saying Tehillim in conjunction with the Shas for Shidduchim initiative (see flier below). It has been such a long time since we have been together!
On Tu B'shvat we celebrate a new year for the trees, after a long, dreary winter in which the trees are seemingly lifeless, we recognize that there is new life and always hope for a new beginning. How fitting that this is the day that we resume our community-wide Tehillim gatherings, after shutting everything down due to Covid.
As I have said before, there is so much power created when people join together to say Tehillim! Over 200 years ago, the Chida wrote in his sefer, Birchas Yosef, "when Yidden will feel it is time of ikvsa d'mashicha, and want to bring Mashiach faster, the Tehillim should be divided among a group of people and said in that fashion to hasten the geula. Gather together groups of people and divide Sefer Tehillim between them by chapters. Reciting it in this manner is as if each individual has said the entire book"!
Sefer Tehillim is the ONLY sefer, where if we sit in a group, we each get the schar of all of the Tehillim said in the room, not just our portion!
May our holy words of Tehillim rise up and pierce the heavens, and together with so much Torah being learned on this day may we see many new couples be blessed with new beginnings!
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos! As the days are now much shorter, it is perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
