Agudah-Sponsored Security Grant Program to Receive $20MM in State Funding for the First Time
Actions speak louder than words. That is why Agudath Israel of Illinois (AIOI) applauds Governor J.B. Pritzker for including a $20 million appropriation towards the Illinois At-risk Nonprofit Security Grant Program in his budget proposal last week. The program was introduced at the request of Agudah in 2017 and passed but has never received any funding. Following the recent spate of anti-Semitic hate crimes perpetrated against our community in Chicago, it is abundantly clear that more needs to be done to protect our community. With hate crimes at their highest point in over a decade, the threat to the Orthodox Jewish community is real. This is a significant step in helping to ensure the safety of our mosdos and community.

"Baruch Hashem, we are very gratified that after years of advocating for this alongside other groups, we finally reached this milestone," said AIOI's director of government affairs, Rabbi Shlomo Soroka. "We will continue to do the necessary hishtadlus while davening for the protection of the one and only True Shomer Yisrael."

Yahalom Spa Event
For mothers of children with special needs, there are burdens that go beyond navigating the obvious challenges. Carrying those burdens can be a little easier when you know you're not alone. That's why Yahalom Chicago hosted another event for these mothers on Sunday, Feb 6th. A spa day getaway gave the mothers an opportunity to hear words of inspiration by Mrs. Eve Levy, enjoy a delicious brunch and be indulged by various spa vendors while enjoying connecting and learning from each other. In the words of a mother who attended, "I just want to thank you for an absolutely amazing event today. From the camaraderie to the speaker, food to spa treatments, raffles, and gifts, you and your team thought of everything." A second mother expressed, "It's so liberating to be with so many mothers with similar challenges and being able to open up to each other in a safe space."
Bnos Updates and 2 New Programs
After taking a COVID related year off, the Annual Bnos Song Spectacular is back! The Bnosers in grades 1-6 will once again be able to perform songs for their friends that they prepared with their leaders at Shabbos Bnos Groups. As you can see from the flyer the Spectacular has grown so big over the years that two dates are now needed. All the girls performing go home with a prize – plus a 2nd prize if they are a Bnos member for 5782 – and get a delicious pizza Melavah Malkah/supper.

For more information, contact Mrs. Aron at 773.414.1949.
Attention girls in 4th and 5th grades: Join us for the last week of Motzei Shabbos Gym!
Bnos Agudas Yisroel is excited to announce 2 new programs: Bnos Pen Pals and Bnos L2L (Leader to Leader)! See below for more details and how to join.

For more information, call 212.797.9000 x353 or email CBHass@agudah.org.

Bnos Pals extends Bnos's just-launched Tween Light division for middle school girls. Girls in 6th - 8th grades fill out a form with the usual questions, plus info about their hobbies and talents. Bnos matches up girls based on mutual interests. Bnos Pals also gives the girls a list of activities to do with their pal: phone activities, conversation starters, and letter writing ideas.
This pen pal program is for Bnos Leaders. Just like Bnos Pals, the girls are matched by interest. "We intend to CONNECT," explains Mrs. Chana Baila Hass, National Director of Bnos Agudath Israel. "We want the girls to have an eye-opening realization that they're part of something BIG!"

A girl who's a Bnoser or Leader in her community may not realize that Bnos is national. She won't know that Bnos is happening in 39 cities and 300 branches with thousands of leaders. Corresponding with a girl out of her community broadens her horizons.
