Please have extra Kavanah (concentration) for the situation in Ukraine.
Friday, April 8 –
Tehillim 43
This psalm is a continuation of the previous psalm. (Both are said on Succot.) Here we continue to pray about the pains of the exile. We pray for the coming of Moshiach and Eliyahu HaNavi who will lead us to the building of the third Beit HaMikdash. This is hinted to in passuk 3, "אורך" "Your light" refers to Moshiach and "אמתך" "your truth" refers to Eliyahu HaNavi.
The Talmud tells us that the Geula (redemption) can come in two ways: In its proper destined time (בעתה) or if we have extra merit it can come before its time (אחישנה). Rabbi Yonatan Eibeshitz says that if Moshiach comes in his proper time he will be preceded by Eliyahu HaNavi three days. But if he comes before his time then they will come together unannounced. In this perek, we are praying that they come together, hinting to the fact that we would like them to come speedily before their time.
Segula for this perek: 1. If one was distracted from his profession or removed from his job and it was given to another (this can help). (Psalm 41 and 42 are also helpful for this.) 2. For the construction of the Beit HaMikdash (again). (From the Sefer Shimush Tehillim attributed to Rav Hai Gaon (969 -1038).)
1.  Avenge me, Hashem, and plead my cause against an unkind nation, from a man of deceit and justice You shall rescue me.
2.  For You are the God of my strength, why have You abandoned me? Why should I walk in gloom under the oppression of the enemy.
3.  Send Your light and Your truth, that they may lead me; they shall bring me to Your Holy Mount and to Your dwellings.
4.  And I will come to the altar of God, to the God of the joy of my exultation, and I will thank You with a lyre, Hashem, My God.
5.  Why are you downcast, my soul, and why do you stir within me? Hope to Hashem, for I will yet thank Him for the salvations of my countenance and my God.
