Tehillim 123
The reason we are in our long exile, among other reasons, is, perhaps, that we were a haughty people. One the most uncomfortable negative traits for Hashem to bear, is Ga'avah, haughtiness. By going through the exile, we learn the trait of humility. This is accomplished both by bearing the taunts and the persecution of the other nations and by coming to realize that we have only Hashem, the true master of the universe, to rely upon.
Once we have achieved this level of humility then, says David HaMelech, "There is no further point for us to remain in this exile, and so Hashem, please redeem us".
Segula for this perek: To help retrieve a worker who has left. (From the Sefer Shimush Tehillim attributed to Rav Hai Gaon (969 -1038).)
1.  A song of ascents. To You I lifted up my eyes, You Who dwell in heaven.
2.  Behold, as the eyes of slaves to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a handmaid to the hand of her mistress, so are our eyes to Hashem our God, until He favors us.
3.  Favor us, Hashem, favor us, for we are fully sated with contempt.
4.  Our soul is fully sated with the ridicule of the complacent, the contempt [shown] to the valley of doves.

Tehillim 124
Just as we say in the Haggada of Pesach, in every generation, the Jewish Nation faces enemies who wish to destroy it. Sometimes the threat is apparent. At other times the threat is not seen. However, we can always rely on Hashem to save us from destruction. This is what David HaMelech sings about in this perek.
The Arizal notes that the word "אזי" or "then" appears three times in this perek. The Gematria (numerical equivalence) of this word is 18. This is a hint to our prayers, the three Shemona Esreis, which have a core 18 blessings and are recited three times a day. It is due to our intense prayers that Hashem saves us in each generation.
Segula for this perek: For one who will be traveling by boat. (From the Sefer Shimush Tehillim attributed to Rav Hai Gaon (969 -1038).)
1.  A song of ascents. Of David. Had it not been for Hashem Who was with us, let Israel declare now.
2.  Had it not been for Hashem Who was with us when men rose up against us,
3.  Then they would have swallowed us raw when their anger was kindled against us.
4.  Then the waters would have washed us away; illness would have passed over our soul.
5.  Then the wicked waters would have passed over our soul.
6.  Blessed is Hashem, Who did not give us as prey for their teeth.
7.  Our soul escaped like a bird from the hunters' snare; the snare broke, and we escaped.
8.  Our help is in the name of Hashem, Who made heaven and earth.
