Dear Aneinu Members,

This week's parsha of Vayechi ends with the death of Yosef Hatzaddik. Although Yosef was second to the youngest of the brothers, he was the first to die. His death signalled that the period of exile, suffering, and enslavement was about to begin. Although this was to be a very dark period in the history of Am Yisroel, Yosef left them with a message of hope; "G-d surely will remember you and bring you up out of this land, to the land that He swore to Avraham, to Yitzchok, and to Yaakov." Yosef then requested that when they would leave Mitzraim, that they would bring his bones with them. Yosef would remain in galus with his people, the people that he had sustained even before they had come down to Mitzraim, and his words would continue to give them hope throughout their long years of enslavement.

Through every exile of the Jewish people there has always been the hope of redemption that has sustained us. Am Yisroel is a people that always looks to the future. When the world around us is filled with darkness, we see only the light; the light of the Torah that guides us, and the light that Hashem has promised us that awaits us in the future. Every Jew is a candle that is meant to bring Hashem's light into this world.

It is our hope that tomorrow night's Zisa Zimmerman Aneinu event, " An Evening of Joyful Torah, Tefilla, & Togetherness"  will be a source of light and hope for our community. I hope you will all come, and, imy"H, soon our world will be filled with the glorious light of the revelation of Hashem's glory, with the coming of Mashiach and the geulah shlema.

Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos (and every Shabbos!). As the days are now much shorter, it is perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.

Wishing you all a beautiful Shabbos,
Chaya Miriam
