Dear Aneinu Members,
This has been a week of highs and lows. We celebrated Tu B'Shvat, a happy day that marks the new year of the trees. Life is beginning anew and with it the hope of a bright future. On that same day we heard of the terrible earthquake in Turkey, and the horrific death of tens of thousands of people. Today we awoke to the news of yet another terror attack. A pure, innocent 6 year old child, Yaakov Yisroel Paley hy"d, ruthlessly murdered as he waited at a bus stop, and 19 year old Shlomo Lederman hy"d, married just 5 months ago, his life tragically cut short as it was just beginning.
We can't make sense of these tragedies, but I saw that the eathquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. The number 7 signifies this world, and the number 8 signifies the Messianic era. Imy"H may this be a sign that we will soon see a new world where terrorist attacks and natural disasters will become a distant memory, and we will all live in a new world filled with the peace, light, and goodness of Hashem's revealed divine glory. May it come soon.
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos (and every Shabbos). As the days are now much shorter, it is perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
