What does the future hold for Israel? For the Jews? For the Peace Process?

Of course, nobody knows but if there were to be one voice to listen to to make predictions it would be Michael Oren's. Michael has spent most of his life dedicated to public service in Israel and abroad. He has spent time in government and diplomacy. Before that, he spent some time working as a cowboy.

Michael, an already accomplished historian, turns his eye to writing not about history but about the future. In 2048 The Rejuvenated State he sets out his vision for the next 25 years of the Jewish State. He raises the key issues that must be addressed as Israel approaches her 100th birthday. From the Palestinian conflict to citizenship, judicial reform, healthcare, education, diplomacy, and more, Israel has much to be proud of, but a lot of work is yet to do.

Listen now as Michael Oren teaches us the whole Torah standing on one leg.

One of R. Twersky's central goals in these collected essays is to demonstrate the interconnectedness of Halakhah and Aggadah. He stated that goal explicitly in the opening of the oral version of chapter 1: "The decision I reached…was to combine the two areas of Halakhah and Aggadah, starting with a halakhah found at the beginning of Pirkei Avot, 'raise up many disciples.'"
Take note that R. Twersky defines that maxim as "Halakhah," although generally the statements of Δ€azal in Pirkei Avot are considered aggadic. This puts into sharp relief R. Twersky's goal of perceiving Halakhah and Aggadah as two complementary realms.
