Year of Hakhel

With much anticipation for the new year, Sichos in English is pleased to share a profound sichah specifically addressing the unique spiritual significance of Rosh HaShanah and Shabbos occurring simultaneously.

Generally, shofar is the main avodah of Rosh HaShanah. Through blowing the shofar, we crown Hashem as King! So why don't we blow it on Shabbos?  How can we have Rosh HaShanah without this integral mitzvah ?

In the sichah presented here, the Rebbe explores the avodah of Rosh HaShanah and the function of blowing shofar. This insight clarifies how the absence of shofar on Shabbos achieves an even greater bittul than the shofar blowing on a regular weekday.

This leads us to the next question: If Shabbos without shofar blowing represents such a great level of bittul, why then was the shofar blown on Shabbos in the Beis HaMikdash?

With wishes for a Ksivah Vachasima Tovah and a year of "Shabbos:'' calmness, peace, serenity, and ultimately, the arrival of Mashiach, called the Yom Shekulo Shabbos.
