Solidarity with Israel Dear Neighbor, While Jews around the world celebrated the holiday of Sukkot and Shmini Atzeret this weekend, Hamas terrorists launched a horrific attack on the State of Israel. More than 700 Israelis have been murdered–men, women, and children–and dozens of civilians have been kidnapped and taken into Gaza. As many have reported, yesterday may have seen the largest number of Jews murdered in a single day since the Holocaust. My heart breaks for all the innocent lives lost, and I stand firmly in support of Israel as it combats this terrorist threat. The Chicagoland Jewish community will be holding a rally on Tuesday, October 10 at 10 AM at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe for all those who would like to stand in solidarity with the Israeli people. You can also show your support by donating to the JUF's Israel Emergency Fund. There are no known threats to the United States or Diaspora Jewry; however, the local police will be paying special attention to our neighborhood over the coming days and will increase patrols near places of worship.
