Roger Heath Good morning. I would like to give an update on the event that happened yesterday in the community. A Jewish man was robbed of his cellphone,wallet,and keys. The man attempted to run to a shul when he observed a Kia following him but could not get in fast enough. The offenders approached the man and robbed him. He was not injured. Later that morning the same offenders attempted to break in the man's house. His wife called the police and the offenders fled.
This occurred at 5am. The man said he was out for a walk. We strongly suggest not walking alone when possible.
In the 024th District most of our robberies happen between 4am and 6am. So if you can avoid walking alone during these times it could be helpful. Also when you see something like a suspicious vehicle or persons please call 911 immediately. If this occurs on shabbos please notify or ask someone to call 911 for you.
This event is not Jewish related. It was a crime of opportunity. This is why we ask you to be vigilant when walking out in the community.
This event is an ongoing investigation and we will update you when we know more.
