I S S U E 804 Parshat Bo - \ January 18, 2024 \ 8 Shevat, 5784 Dear Friend, This Shabbos is Yud Shevat. the day of passing of the sixth Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, of blessed memory, and the day on which our Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory, became Rebbe. Kehot Publication Society is the organization they founded to inspire and educate post WWII Jewry. Indeed, it was the apple of their eye.   Yud Shevat is a spiritually charged day and opportune time for us to express our gratitude for the largesse provided to us by these great leaders. Parshat Bo Pharaoh agreed to Moses' request to allow the people to go into the desert for three days to offer up sacrifices to G-d, and asked who would be going. Following Our Children Moses said, "We will go with our young people and with our elders; we will go with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and our cattle, for it is a festival of G-d for us." (Ex. 10:9) Moses mentioned "our young people" before "our elders" in order to emphasize the primary importance of teaching the youth to develop their relationship with G-d. Pharaoh ridiculed this concern, insisting that only adults need to be involved in spiritual practice and observance. Moses was vindicated when later, the Jewish children were the first to recognize G-d when the sea was split. Their heightened spiritual sensitivity bore witness to the care that their parents had invested in their education.
