BRI PARSHAH TIDBITS
"Speak to the Rock"

The parshah recounts the incident of Moshe Rabbeinu striking the rock. In lesson 20 of Likutey Moharan, Rebbe Nachman elaborates extensively on the subtle flaw in this act. The practical lesson we learn from this is the severity of forcing the moment.

We all need salvations; we all have problems, whether financial, marital, with children, or with bad character traits, etc. We must remember to pray with patience for everything, not to demand immediate salvation. Forcing the moment can lead to destruction and despair.

"Speak to the rock" – the rock symbolizes a hard stone, softened through words of prayer and supplication, not through force or striking. Through this approach, we will see true and complete salvations.

Shabbat Shalom!

Chaim Kramer
