Dear Friend,

Rosh Chodesh Av is a Ta'anit Tzaddikim (fast day of righteous), since it is the day that Aaron haCohen died.  It is interesting to note that this day of passing is the only one mentioned explicitly in the Torah.  Why?  Aaron's death was a tear in the fabric of peace and harmony in the Jewish community.  The people mourned their dedicated leader who committed his every moment to increase the love between man and his fellow man.  As well known, Aaron would approach each person in a dispute and encourage each one to reach out as his adversary wants peace.  In our times, the advent of Chodesh Av is an opportunity for us to increase our diligence in our acts between man and fellow man in the hope that the Beit HaMikdash will be rebuilt and the sons of Aaron will return to their sacred roles - of Temple service and building harmony amongst the nation.I look forward to meeting you virtually and being inspired together.

Please join the OU Women's Initiative at ou.org/women/rc on Monday, August 5th at 12 noon EDT for our virtual Rosh Chodesh Av shiur with Mrs. Esti Kimche.

Mrs. Esti Kimche is originally from London, England. She moved to Baltimore with her husband Shmuel and their children this past summer from Israel. Esti is an educator working in many different areas and has run programs and taught in different capacities in London and Israel. Esti is also a popular sought after tour guide in Israel.
