CLICK HERE TO SPONSOR A SHIUR BRI PARSHAH TIDBITS "Who will go up to the Heavens for us and take it [the Torah] for us and make us hear it, so that we may do it?" I heard a wonderful explanation from my friend, the chassid Reb Zvi Cheshin, shlita. The Torah teaches us that the study of Torah and the observance of mitzvot are not out of reach—they are not in the Heavens; rather, they are within our grasp, and every individual is capable of fulfilling them as they are meant to be. In this verse, there is a hidden hint: if you take the second-to-last letter of the words "lanu" (for us), "hashamayim" (the Heavens), "v'yikacheha" (and take it), and "lanu" (for us), it spells the word "Nachman," alluding to Rebbe Nachman, the holy tzaddik who strives to reveal to us the secrets of fulfilling the Torah. But in order to know how to carry it out in practice, it says "v'yashmi'einu otah v'na'aseinah" (and make us hear it, so that we may do it), where the second-to-last letter of each word spells out "Noson"—alluding to Rebbe Nachman's disciple, Reb Noson. As Rebbe Nachman himself testified, without Reb Noson, nothing would have come to fruition. We must rejoice and strengthen ourselves greatly in knowing that Rebbe Nachman teaches us how to serve Hashem, and that the Torah is not out of reach but within our ability to fulfill with our will and yearning. In this way, we too can be students and continue the path of Reb Noson by spreading Rebbe Nachman's teachings. Ashreinu—how fortunate we are!
