The Narrow Bridge

BS'D

Rebbe Nachman ztk'l teaches, "Kol ha'olam kulo gesher tsar m'od v'haikar lo l'fached klal – the whole world is a narrow bridge, but the essence is not to be afraid."

Whether we realize it or not, we're all journeying along a narrow bridge. Where are we heading? The restricted pathway leads one to discover the 'real me'. The mission of the Jewish people is to uncover our G-dliness and unveil our potential – indeed a monumental task!

Rebbe Nachman instructs us to persist on life's bridge despite its narrowness. We shouldn't let fear hinder our crossing. This confined, slim, and even cramped bridge is the path to happiness and must be traversed. Fear is an emotion that can result in negative outcomes, such as defensiveness, resistance, anger, and blame. Fear can manifest in various ways, such as fear of failure, fear of hardships, difficulties and pain, and fear of lack of assistance. At its core, fear is a lack of trust, particularly in Hashem. Yet, fear can be vanquished through trust in Hashem.

The Rebbe advises us not to look down (symbolizing one's shortcomings) while crossing the narrow bridge. Instead, we should look up and bolster our Yirat Shamayim. As our emuna in Hashem strengthens, our fears naturally diminish.

"When we muster the courage to release our deepest fears, we set foot on a remarkable journey towards conquering our constraints, self-doubts, and missteps. This transformative voyage unveils our hidden divinity, empowering us to radiate it into the world. This heartfelt sentiment underscores the strength in vulnerability and the beauty of personal growth."
