Matzo Baking

Bais HaVaad Dayanim and kollel members joined to form a chabura for matzah baking in preparation for Pesach.

Car Cleaning for Dayanim and Yungeleit

With kollel learning and bais din activity continuing nearly until Yom Tov, the Bais HaVaad once again offered complimentary car cleaning for all its dayanim and kollel members as they addressed the needs of Klal Yisroel..

Mechiras Chametz

Bais HaVaad facilitated mechiras chametz for thousands of participants via its online portal and through dozens of local rabbanim who appointed Rabbi Dovid Grossman as their mursha.

Rav Gewirtzman on Financial Responsibility

Rav Eliezer Gewirtzman, Dayan at the Bais HaVaad and Rav of Coventry Shul, addressed a community event, before Pesach, titled Money Doesn't Manage Itself, hosted by the Lakewood Resource and Referral Center (LRRC) in collaboration with Living Smarter Jewish (LSJ). Held at Lakewood Middle School on January 22, the event focused on practical financial guidance amid rising costs and economic pressure.

Rav Gewirtzman joined fellow presenters Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union, and Mr. Naftali Horowitz, Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, in discussing responsible money management, fiscal accountability, and the Torah perspective on financial stability.

The evening featured real-world strategies, one-on-one financial coaching opportunities, and resources for community members navigating today's financial challenges.

Ami Magazine Features Bais HaVaad Dayanim on Investment Challenges

A recent feature in Ami Magazine spotlighted leading Bais HaVaad Dayanim—Harav Dovid Grossman, Harav Baruch Meir Levin, and Harav Yehoshua Wolfe—delving into complex halachic and financial issues surrounding real estate investments, syndication structures, and investor protections.

Drawing from real dinei Torah and other life experience, the Dayanim addressed topics including cost overruns, corporate liability, makkas medinah, investor negligence, documentation standards, and halachic perspectives on Ponzi schemes and fraudulent conduct. The conversation highlighted the need for due diligence, proper halachic and legal structures, and communal safeguards in today's investment landscape.

Recent Articles by Rav Yehoshua Grunwald

Rav Yehoshua Grunwald has recently published several innovative articles in leading Torah journals such as Kol HaTorah and Avkat Rochel. His writings include discussions on:

  • Whether a pregnant woman may bite off the pitum of an esrog on Hoshana Raba.
  • The halachic implications of Lifnei Iver in the context of Lashon Hara.
  • A previously unpublished teshuva from the Sridei Eish on the topic of Heter Meah Rabbonim.

Even HaEzer Chabura is Mesayem Hilchos Gittin

The Even HaEzer Chabura marked the completion of an intensive study of Hilchos Gittin. Dayanim who celebrated the completion are now prepared to join the ranks of Dayanim poised address the intricate and highly sensitive familial and marital halachic issues.

New Eruvin Chabura

Under the leadership of Rav Mordechai Fuchs, Dayan and Rosh Kollel, the Bais HaVaad has launched a new chabura dedicated exclusively to Hilchos Eruvin. The chabura follows Shulchan Aruch systematically and will span approximately 18 months. Rav Fuchs brings extensive practical expertise to the group, having overseen numerous eruvin in Lakewood and beyond.

Kollel Launches Dayanus Track in Choshen Mishpat

This zman, the entire Bais HaVaad Kollel has begun a unified seder focused on the first chelek of Choshen Mishpat—the core sugyos of dayanus. These halachos, which include the first part of chelek aleph and the first half of chelek beis, form the backbone of what is required to properly adjudicate a din Torah. Unlike the more commonly encountered sugyos covered in Chelek Gimmel, which deal more with day-to-day Business Halacha matters, this new seder marks the launch of a collective "Dayanus 2.0" track within the kollel, representing an elevated level of rigorous preparation for serving as Dayanim in our active Bais Din.

Chabura Research Center Dedicated by the Bassan Family

The Bais HaVaad is proud to announce the dedication of the Chabura Research Center in honor of Nessim A. Bassan. Sponsored by his children, Alberto and Isaac Bassan of Panama, this center serves as the hub for collaborative Torah study and research.

At the Chabura Research Center, Bais HaVaad yungerleit and dayanim work together to delve into pressing halachic issues, engaging in in-depth analysis and producing comprehensive halachic psakim. This critical space fosters rigorous scholarship and ensures that the Bais HaVaad continues to address the most complex questions in halacha.

Dedication opportunities for other rooms and facilities are still available. For more information, please contact the Bais HaVaad office.
