Baruch Dayan HaEmes With great sorrow, HTC mourns the loss of our founding Yeshiva Principal, Rebbe and Musmach (1959) HaRav Shmaryahu Meltzer, ZT"L Rav Meltzer, was a beloved Rebbe in the 1960's and was the first principal of the Yeshiva's high school in 1961. Rav Meltzer was a talmid of our Yeshiva, originally from St. Paul, MN. He first attended the Chicago Jewish Academy and then the Yeshiva. He received his semicha in 1959 and became a Rebbe and the principal shortly thereafter. In 1971 Rav Meltzer moved to Eretz Yisrael, where he taught in various yeshivos and kollelim, including Itri, Kollel Bais Moshe and was the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Toras Simcha. Rav Meltzer was a guiding influence on hundreds of talmidim and instilled derech eretz and ahavas haTorah, always guiding his talmidim with encouragement. He inspired simcha and pure joy in learning and taught that Torah is a Toras Chaim. For Rav Meltzer, nothing was more geshmak and sweet like the excitement of learning Torah. The levaya took place today in Eretz Yisrael.
