Spiritual Guide to the Omer Day Six of Week 6: Yesod of Yesod 41st Day of the Omer SUNDAY NIGHT/MONDAY

(PLEASE LEARN THIS POST FOR A YESHUA FOR Yoel Zev ben Mirel Rissa Chava AND Yaakov Yoseph ben Raizel THE BOYS IN JAPAN)
Examine the bonding aspect of bonding. The forms it takes and its level of expression. Every person needs and has the capacity to bond with other people, with significant undertakings and with meaningful experiences.

Do I have difficulty bonding? Is the difficulty in all areas or only in certain ones? Do I bond easily with my job, but have trouble bonding with people? Or vice versa? Do I have problems bonding with special events in my life? Examine the reasons for not bonding. Is it because I am too critical and find fault in everything as an excuse for not bonding? Am I too locked in my own ways? Is my not bonding a result of discomfort with vulnerability? Have I been hurt in my past bonding experiences? Has my trust been abused? Is my fear of bonding a result of the deficient bonding I experienced as a child? To cultivate your capacity to bond, even if you have valid reasons to distrust, you must remember that G-d gave you a Divine soul that is nurturing and loving and you must learn to recognize the voice within, which will allow you to experience other people's souls and hearts. Then you can slowly drop your defenses when you recognize someone or something you can truly trust.

For bonding to be possible it must embody the other six aspects of bonding. Successful bonding must also include actualizing the bond in constructive deeds.

One additional point: Bonding breeds bonding. When you bond in one area of your life, it helps you bond in other areas.

Exercise for the day: Begin bonding with a new person or experience you love by committing designated time each day or week to spend together constructively.

COMING SOON FROM FELDHEIM Flow from the Source Essays on the Weekly Parashah

The Sfas Emes Al HaTorah, by Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh Leib Alter of Gur (1847-1905), has both fascinated and frustrated the Torah world for generations. On the one hand the Gerrer Rebbe introduces the reader to profound worlds of thought insight into the metaphors of the Torah. Mitzvos and the classic sayings of Chazal are infused with a new breath of life when the Sfas Emes explains them. On the other, even the most experienced Torah scholars find the Sfas Emes incredibly difficult to learn. The sefer is separated into thirty years of writings that require poring patiently over each source to get a full understanding.
This book is not a translation of the Sfas Emes, but a series of essays on the weekly parashiyos using ideas that the Sfas Emes presents, rewritten and explained in a clear and readable fashion. Through its pages the reader will gain unique insights into such basic Jewish subjects as Free Will, Shabbos , the Patriarchs, Prayer, Eretz Yisrael, and more., With this in hand, he has the tools to open the Sfas Emes himself and study the Gerrer Rebbe’s holy words.

Week Six - Yesod

Bonding is the ultimate emotional connection. While the first five qualities (love, discipline, compassion, endurance and humility) are interactive, they manifest duality: the lover and the beloved. The emphasis is on an individual's feelings, not necessarily on mutuality.

Bonding, on the other hand, is a complete fusion of the two. Without bonding no feeling can be truly realized. Bonding means connecting; not only feeling for another, but being attached to him. Not just a token commitment, but total devotion. It creates a channel between giver and receiver. Bonding is eternal. It develops an everlasting union that lives on forever through the perpetual fruit it bears. Bonding is the foundation of life. The emotional spine of the human psyche. Every person needs bonding to flourish and grow. The bonding between mother and child; between husband and wife; between brothers and sisters; between close friends. Bonding is affirmation; it gives one the sense of belonging; that "I matter", "I am significant and important". It establishes trust - trust in yourself and trust in others. It instills confidence. Without bonding and nurturing we cannot realize and be ourse lves.

Bonding channels all five previous qualities into a constructive bond, giving it the meaning "foundation". Whereas all other human feelings are individual emotions, separate stories of a building, each a necessary component of human experience, bonding channels and integrates them all into one bond which creates a foundation upon which the structure of human emotions firmly stands. Bonding is giving all of yourself not just part; it is not one emotion but all of them. So Yesod completes the spectrum of the first six emotions.

The foundation of Yesod is different from an ordinary foundation. It does not just rest beneath the higher levels of the structure, but encompasses them all. An effective bedrock of the emotional psyche cannot remain separate but must include and permeate all the emotions. Only then can bonding be constructive and everlasting.

JI [YU News] The Maccabeats Go to Washington

President Joel and Maccabeats Attend White House Reception for Jewish American Heritage Month
On Tuesday, May 17, President Barack Obama hosted a reception for Jewish community leaders from across the country, rabbis, members of Congress, and a broad range of leaders engaged in business, the arts, education, and public and community service in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month.
“The Jewish community in the United States has always stood for freedom, and that includes our unshakeable support and commitment to the security of the State of Israel,” said President Obama.
Yeshiva University President Richard M. Joel was in attendance, as well as YU’s a cappella group, The Maccabeats, who provided musical entertainment.
“In celebrating the contributions of the Jewish people to the United States, the White House gathering heightened our Jewish pride and challenged us to live up to our past successes,” said President Joel. “It was wonderful to see a room filled with so many Jewish notables as guests of the leader of the free world.”
In his remarks, President Obama thanked the Maccabeats for their “outstanding performance.”
“They just did an outstanding number for me—it was very brief—that said, ‘four more years,’” said President Obama. “It was good. I really liked it. So thank you.”
Noah Jacobson, Yeshiva College junior and a tenor for the Maccabeats, described the experience as a “surreal moment.”
“Performing at the White House was a dream come true for many of us,” said Jacobson, a Houston, TX native. “It was almost hard to believe where we were—that we were actually singing our repertoire in the East Room.”
YU graduate and fellow Maccabeat Immanuel Shalev echoed Jacobson’s sentiments.
“It was one of the most unbelievable experiences in all of our lives,” said Shalev, of Lawrence, NY. “It was an honor to be surrounded by so many Jewish leaders and to represent our faith at the White House.”

Wendy Weiner Runge (Zeva Rochel bas Chaya), whose story has been covered here on Matzav.com, was sentenced yesterday to a 10-year sentence in Mitchellville women’s prison. The Minnesota filmmaker, a 46-year-old mother of four, has written on this website and elsewhere about how she was ensnared in Iowa’s long-running film tax-incentive debacle.

Judge Douglas Staskal criticized the head of Polynation Pictures before sentencing Wendy.

He said the sentence was a difficult decision to make for a woman with no prior criminal history, but claimed he could not ignore the “complete arrogant and defiant” way in which she had denied responsility for her crime.

“This is a case in my judgment that calls out for the court to send a message to you and others who would engage in this kind of behavior that it’s not accepted,” Staskal said.

The week-and-a-half-long trial was sheld in February.

Wendy wept quietly Tuesday in a corner of the second-floor courtroom before being ushered out by her attorney, Matthew Whitaker.
Whitaker said he had not decided whether to appeal, adding: “We are still weighing our options.”

Runge, an Omaha native, decided to accept a plea agreement proferred by prosecutors after both sides rested in her February trial. The first-degree fraudulent practices charge to which she pleaded guilty did not apply to “The Scientist,” a 2008 film that received $1.85 million in state tax credits.
Rather, she admitted she made false statements to procure tax credits for two uncompleted movies called “Forever” and “Run” before Iowa’s film program was suspended in late 2009.

Runge has repeatedly denied doing anything criminal and professed to be a victim of malicious prosecution and misconduct by state officials.
The case engulfed the fledgling film incentive program a year and a half ago, leading to the firings or resignations of six state economic development managers. Two of Wendy’s former partners who were more cooperative with prosecutors received much lighter sentences Tuesday before Staskal.

Matthias Saunders, a pivotal player in Polynation’s deals with the state, received an up to 10-year suspended sentence for first-degree theft and two years probation, meaning he will stay out of prison if he complies with the terms of his release.

Saunders, 39, who has been living in Georgia, ran a company called Maximux Production Services, and profited from services his company provided that prosecutors said were highly inflated or didn’t exist.

Chase Brandau, 26, also of Minnesota, received a deferred sentencing for second-degree theft. He will be able to wipe the felony from his record if he successfully completes to two years of probation. All three will have to pay restitution to the state, the amounts of which have not yet been determined.
Please continue to daven and say Tehillim for Zeva Rochel bas Chaya.

Spiritual Guide to the Omer Day One of Week 5: Chesed of Hod 29th Day of the Omer TUESDAY NIGHT/WENSDAY

(PLEASE LEARN THIS POST FOR A YESHUA FOR Yoel Zev ben Mirel Rissa Chava AND Yaakov Yoseph ben Raizel THE BOYS IN JAPAN)
Week Five - Hod

If endurance is the engine of life humility is its fuel. As gevurah (discipline) gives chesed (love) focus, hod gives netzach direction.

Humility is the silent partner of endurance. Its strength is in its silence. Its splendor in its repose. Humility leads to yielding, which is an essential element of Humility - and the resulting yielding - should not be confused with weakness and lack of self-esteem.

Humility is modesty; it is acknowledgement (from the root "hoda'ah"). It is saying "thank you" to G-d. It is clearly recognizing your qualities and strengths and acknowledging that they are not your own; they were given to you by G-d for a higher purpose than just satisfying your own needs. Humility is modesty; it is recognizing how small you are which allows you to realize how large you can become. And that makes humility so formidable.

Endurance draws its energy from the acknowledgement of humility. Human endurance goes only as far as your tolerance level. Acknowledging that your strengths come from a higher place gives you the power to endure far beyond your own perceived capacity. It gives you part of G-d's enduring strength.

A full cup cannot be filled. When you're filled with yourself and your needs, "I and nothing else", there is no room for more. When you "empty" yourself before something which is greater than yourself, you allow in much more than your limited capacity. Humility is the key to transcendence; to reach beyond yourself. Only true humility gives you the power of total objectivity.

Humility is sensitivity; it is healthy shame out of recognition that you can be better than you are and that you expect more of yourself. Although humility is silent it is not a void. It is a dynamic expression of life that includes all seven qualities of love, discipline, compassion, endurance, humility, bonding and sovereignty. Humility is active not passive. Not a state of being but an interaction even in its calm and inaction.

[chicago-aneinu] Please Daven for 17 INJURED IN CAR CRASH

Police suspect an Arab truck driver purposely rammed into several cars in Tel Aviv Sunday morning, killing one person on "Nakba Day." At least 17 others were injured.

The truck smashed into two motorcyclists and a bus. The driver reportedly was cursing in Arabic as he fled the scene. Police have arrested him and are questioning him.

Police have rejected the driver's claim that he lost control of his truck after a tire blew out and they said that terrorism is suspected. Eyewitnesses said that the 22-year-old driver, a resident of the village of Kfar Kassem, seemed determined to crash into the cars.

The truck continued to travel more than 2,000 feet before stopping, another indication that he intended to kill Jews on "Nakba Day, the Arab term for the "catastrophe" of the re-establishment of the Jewish State on May 15, 1948, Israeli Independence Day.

One eyewitness told IDF Army Radio that his vehicle was hit by the impact of the crash and that "the driver was in a fit of madness."

He added, "I heard the crashing of cars until my car also was hit. It seems like a terrorist attack to me."

it is nevertheless more /desirable for one to pray in/ the Beys Ha-Midrash. /However,/ this /ruling only/ applies to a person who studies there, so that he should not have to neglect his /Torah/ study to go to the Synagogue,( MISHNA BERURA DIRSHU CHELEK 1 SEE NOTE 62 IN THE BACK PAGE 3 FOR WHICH BAIS MEDRASH THIS APPLIES TO)

The reason is/ that the Holy One, Blessed be He, does not despise the prayer of a congregation.

If one has /a choice of/ two Synagogues one of which has a large group of people /praying there/, it is more of a mitzvah to pray in /that Synagogue

[chicago-aneinu] Bone Marrow match urgently needed for 2-year old

GALICIA Digest for Thursday, May 05, 2011.

1. Bone Marrow match urgently needed for 2-year old New Jersey resident

Although I am a long-time researcher (JewishGen Registration No.
3829), this is the most important message I have ever written.
My 2-year old grandson Ezra Fineman has a rare primary immune
deficiency called Hyper IgM Syndrome. The only cure is a bone
marrow transplant. He needs to find a donor that is his perfect
match and that match could be YOU or a member of your family.
Since tissue type is inherited, Ezra's best chance of finding a
match lies with those of Eastern European ancestry, particularly
Polish and Hungarian. The towns and surnames associated with
Ezra's ancestry are listed below. However, donors of *all*
backgrounds are needed and the Gift of Life Foundation is making
it easy for you to join the bone marrow registry to see if you may
be Ezra's perfect match or some other patient's miracle match.

Here's how you can participate:

1) Potential donors must be age 18-60 and in general good
health to join the registry.

Cheek swab test kits can be ordered online through Gift of Life
Bone Marrow Foundation at
https://www.giftoflife.org/dc/Help4Ezra/blog.aspx
or find a bone marrow drive near you at:
http://www.giftoflife.org/Public/Events.aspx

2) If you are above the age of 60, please encourage your family
members and friends to join the registry.

3) If you reside outside of the United States and Canada, please
contact help4ezra@gmail.com for more information.

4) For more information, please go to:
https://www.giftoflife.org/dc/Help4Ezra/blog.aspx or contact
help4ezra@gmail.com. The Gift of Life Coordinator for this project
is Shayne Pilpel. Shayne would be pleased to answer any
questions about the Gift of Life Foundation and can be reached at:
spilpel@giftoflife.org

On behalf of my daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Evan
Fineman, the parents of Ezra, I thank you for whatever role you or
family can play at this critical time.
