[chicago-aneinu] Neighborhood Alert
This past Thursday at 5:00 PM in the afternoon, in the vicinity of Hood & Albany, a man knocked on the door of a home posing as a utility worker for the Chicago Water Dept. A woman answered the door. The worker said that they were doing repairs in the neighborhood and he needed to check the water quality in the home. She replied that her husband had just left on an errand and would be right back. The worker said that he had seen the husband on his way out, and the husband said it would be ok for him to go in and check the water. The woman led him into the kitchen where he spent some time by the kitchen sink checking the water. After the man left, the woman went into her bedroom and found a necklace on the floor. While they had been in the kitchen another man had entered the house and stolen the woman's jewelry.
Please be extra careful before letting a stranger into your home.
