THE BAIS HAVAAD ON THE PARSHA PARSHAS TOLDOS 5774-Self Endangerment

In this week's parsha we read about the birth of Yaakov and Eisav. The Torah describes Eisav as one "who loves hunting a man of the field". Eisav loved hunting and would do so even at the expense of endangering his life. In fact, he even admitted to Yaakov that he believes that he will die one day from the dangers of hunting, which is why he was quick to sell his bechora for a bowl of lentils. This exemplified Esav's attitude towards life: to prefer a shorter life filled with earthly pleasures rather than a longer life with the ability to perform mitzvos.(AUDIO CLICK HERE) PRINT VERSION CLICK HERE.
