At the end of this week's Parsha the Torah discusses.
various types of tithes, sanctifications, and charities, known as hekdesh and ma'aser. The Torah tells us which ones are redeemable, which ones aren't, and how any such redemption is to be performed.
Although many of these sanctifications are no longer applicable today, nevertheless, the obligation to give charity to the poor exists today as it always did (AUDIO HERE).
