Aneinu Please Daven

Please daven for Esther bas Miriam, who has advanced/metastatic breast cancer which has spread to her liver. You may have seen requests to either raise funds for or to find "Ibrance" a medication she needs.  [IBRANCE first was approved in February 2015 and also is indicated for the treatment of HR+, HER2- advanced or metastatic breast cancer in combination with letrozole as initial endocrine-based therapy in postmenopausal women. The indication in combination with letrozole is approved under accelerated approval based on progression-free survival (PFS). Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in a confirmatory trial. The confirmatory Phase 3 trial, PALOMA-2, is fully enrolled.  IBRANCE is the first and only cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK 4/6) inhibitor approved by the FDA. http://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer_receives_expanded_fda_approval_for_ibrance_palbociclib_in_hr_her2_metastatic_breast_cancer]    If you have already seen her letter below and what her friend wrote, which follows it, I apologize. If you have any connections or might in any way be able to help her, her plea is below: Shalom My name is Esther Caplin, from Neve Daniel, Israel After a year of treatments for stage 4 breast cancer which has spread to my liver, my oncologist decided to put me on Ibrance (with Faslodex) providing me with a free 3-month supply of Ibrance that he had obtained from a former patient.  Unfortunately, Ibrance is not one of the cancer drugs supplied on the health plan in Israel and my oncologist hoped to use the three month period to assess its effectiveness on me and to try to acquire more of the drug from Pfizer on compassionate grounds. While the Ibrance has succeeded in halting the spread of the cancer, the request to Pfizer did not work out. As buying the drug was not a viable option, I began a search in my support group (Inspire) for women who were once on Ibrance and since moved to a different treatment, the idea being that some people have Ibrance that is no longer being used. I was successful so far in obtaining enough pills for two more months of treatment. I am asking you to please spread the word – if you know anyone who was once on Ibrance and wishes to donate her left over Ibrance pills, please contact me atesther.caplin@gmail.com  As I see it, the unused medicine eventually will be thrown out, but for me, every 21 pills means another month of life. * Thank you so much for passing this on to whomever you think may be able to help me.  In appreciation,  Esther Caplin One of my very close friends is in desperate search for Ibrance pills for breast cancer, the only treatment that has helped her so far. Some amazing women around the world have donated some but only for two more months. Perhaps you could post this on your e-mails or your rabbis can announce the need for this drug from the pulpit. Each bottle costs about $10,000, but many women have gone on and off this treatment so we are trying to find them. Only in American cancer support groups did my friend and her husband get responses that donating unused medicines is illegal etc. but we are talking about life and death and thousands of dollars of life-saving drugs that may otherwise go into the garbage. Esther adopted 5 children, she is now raising one of her grandchildren and is very central in her entire family’s lives, as you can imagine.  She is an amazing, positive human being who refuses to succumb to her circumstances, is incredibly active and continues to surprise and inspire her doctors and all of us

Live Remote Alert! Nachum Segal broadcasts from Yeshivat Makor Chaim in the Gush Etzion area of Israel

Nachum Segal and Miriam L. Wallach ended their week of amazing Israel broadcasts with a visit to Yeshivat Makor Chaim in the Gush Etzion (south of Jerusalem) area of Israel. Yeshivat Makor Chaim was established in 1985 under the visionary leadership of Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz (Even Israel). Today, the Makor Chaim Educational Institution operates a high school located in the Gush Etzion area, south of Jerusalem. “‘For just one moment, as if lit up by a flash of lightening, the true nature of the Jewish People was revealed.’ This is how Racheli Fraenkel, mother of our late student Naftali described the events following the kidnapping and murder of the three boys. So too, the special spirit of Makor Chaim, the institution where Naftali and Gilad studied, was revealed to all. In talks she has given around the world, Mrs. Fraenkel attributed the unprecedented wave of Jewish unity in great measure to the unique philosophy and special leaders of Makor Chaim. Minister Naftali Bennet opened the school year with us saying: “Last summer, Yeshivat Makor Chaim became the ‘source of life’ for Am Yisrael!” Our new campus will be a beacon of light for Gush Etzion and all of Israel!” As always, you can see some great pictures fro this morning’s show at the NSN Facebook page HERE. Listen to Nachum’s interview with Racheli Fraenkel from this morning’s show HERE.

Rav Chaim Kanievsky on the Three Weeks Comments, laws, customs, stories, and perspectives on Eichah, Kinnos, History, and Geulah Jaffa Families Edition By Rabbi Avraham Yeshayahu Shteinman (Compiled by) IST KESHER STAM

Edges of Truth Perspectives on Life - Based on the Writings of the Sfas Emes by Simcha Leib Grossbard IS AT KESHER STAM

Rav Moshe Chaim Luzzatto, the Ramchal, was among our nation's greatest thinkers and kabbalists. Yet, as great as he was, he felt duty bound to write Mesillas Yesharim, a (relatively) simple work that stresses the basic character requirements needed for improving one's Divine service. Why? While all principles of Torah are very important, that which helps us change and brings us closer to what G-d wants of us, is most important. Similarly, although the Sfas Emes al HaTorah is famously full of novel ideas, Kabbalah, and enlightening interpretations, its main objective is not simply intellectual. The ideas are meant to help us acquire the traits necessary to make one's service to Hashem complete and whole. Therefore, everyday issues such as bitachon, praying, Torah study, Grace after Meals, reward and punishment, exile and redemption, and more are addressed - and explained with appealing, deeper dimensions of understanding. Those who learn the Sfas Emes can't help but be spellbound by the magnificent ideas of its author, Rav Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, the second Gerrer Rebbe. With Edges of Truth, we can integrate these amazing concepts into our daily lives.(From Feldheim)If you look you will even find a few divar torahs on the parsha.

MAZEL TOV OU'S NACH YOMI 5TH CYCLE FINISHED YESHYIYA THIS WEEK AND IS STARTED YIRMIYA

Introduction to Yirmiya By A Journey Through Nach Yirmiya Perek 1 By A Journey Through Nach So Join Rabbi Menachem Leibtag and Rabbi Jack Abramowitz for Yirmiya today.ORDER HERE FROM AMAZON IN HARDCOVER AND KINDLE FORM.In Jeremiah: The Fate of a Prophet, Rabbi Dr. Binyamin Lau breaks down the Book of Jeremiah, rearranging its chapters according to historical events and the chronology of the prophet’s life. This groundbreaking reconstruction turns the biblical narrative from a collection of disjointed prophecies into a thrilling account of warring empires and nationalistic struggle, social decay and political intrigue, soaring hope and crushing despair. Jeremiah: The Fate of a Prophet is the debut volume of Maggid Studies in Tanakh, a major new series that incorporates traditional rabbinic interpretations with scholarly literary techniques to explore the texts, themes, and personalities in the biblical narrative.(FROM KOREN)AND DONT FORGET THE The Milstein Edition of the Later Prophets: The Book of Jeremiah / Yirmiyah FROM ARTSCROLL Following the pattern of the universally acclaimed Yeshayah / Isaiah, this new volume includes: •The universally acclaimed ArtScroll translation • A clear, broad-ranging, graceful commentary • Newly typeset Hebrew commentaries of Rashi, Radak, and Metzudos • Overview explaining the role of the prophets • Introductions and explanations of concepts and prophecies • Lightweight, opaque, acid-free paper; reinforced, sturdy binding • Gilded page headings; Ribbon place marker Jeremiah was given the saddest and hardest of all missions: For 40 years he warned a stubborn nation that they were heading for destruction — unless they heeded his pleas to repent. The Temple alone could not protect them! Egypt’s promises to defend Jerusalem were worthless! Only Hashem could help them — and He would, but only if they repented! What was the response? Jeremiah was ridiculed and reviled. The scroll of his prophecy was slashed and burned. And he was actually imprisoned and threatened with death for saying the unpopular. But the underlying message of Jeremiah is that destruction will be followed by redemption. Israel will always survive and thrive again. There may be a Nebuchadnezzar, but there will also be a Messiah. Israel’s enemies will disappear in ignominy. And no matter how far Israel may fail — they always remain the people of Hashem and Hashem remains their God. So ultimately Jeremiah is a Book of hope and inspiration. This brilliant, elevating work belongs in every Jewish library!

Chabad.org Terror Strikes Nice, France; Dozens Killed, Scores Injured Camp counselors narrowly escape; prayers requested for Jewish community member

France has again been the site of a major terror attack when a man sped a large truck into hordes of people on Thursday evening after a fireworks display that topped off the Bastille Day celebration in the southern city of Nice. More than 75 people have been reported killed, with the toll continuing to rise, and scores more injured. The driver was shot dead by police. According to Rabbi Yossef Yitschok Pinson, director of Habad Loubavitch of Nice Côte d’Azur and head Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in the region, at least one of the wounded is a Jewish community member. Counselors at Chabad’s Gan Israel day camp were at the scene of the attack. Having apparently crossed the street just moments earlier, they narrowly missed the truck’s path of destruction, recounted Pinson. “They had to run from the truck,” he said. “It was just a few feet away from them.” Members of the camp were initially placed in lockdown in a local restaurant. They have since left for the safety of the rabbi’s home. “Obviously, they are very upset, having seen everything—people falling and bodies,” said Pinson. Chabad will be seeking professionals to help Gan Israel staff deal with the trauma. “We are praying for everyone who has been injured in this terrible attack,” said Pinson, who requested that people keep Moshe ben Yaakov in mind during their prayers.
