Chacham Yosef Harari Raful shlit"a electrifies Ninth Siyum
In an electrifying address at the 9th Siyum HaShas of Daf Yomi, Chacham Yosef Harari-Raful shlit"a, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva Ateret Torah in Brooklyn and member of the Agudah's Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, elaborated upon the core role for Klal Yisroel that Torah Shebal Peh has played throughout the ages. The preservation of this limud has assured the continuation of authentic Torah observance and protection from the damaging ideas that arise in each generation.
Chacham Harari-Raful noted that it was a distinct chessed that Hashem preserved the learning of Torah Shebal Peh through all the difficult galios. In America too, he stressed, it is in the merit of the gedolim who came after World War II that the learning of Gemara prospered more than ever before. Indeed, throughout the postwar era, Agudas Yisroel and its gedolim have spread the learning of The Daf – originally proposed in Vienna, 1923 – in America and throughout the world at unprecedented levels, throughout both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. If those gedolim could only see "rivevos alfei Yisroel that learned millions and billions of dafim and are participating in the Siyum HaShas," Chacham Harari-Raful exclaimed.
