Public Safety Alert Dear Neighbor, I am very upset to report that there have been several carjackings in the area over the past few days, including in the 50th Ward. I take these incidents very seriously and am working closely with the police to make sure our neighborhood is safe and protected. The 24th District is coordinating with neighboring police districts to find the people responsible, and the local police are increasing patrols throughout the community to keep us all safe. Local incidents have occurred in the 3000 block of W Hood, the 2500 block of W Fitch and the 3000 block of W North Shore. The police are investigating these incidents. In the meantime, please stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911. Always remember to take safety precautions and be aware of your surroundings, especially in garages, parking lots, and gas stations. Park in well-lit areas and limit talking on cell phones while seated in your vehicle. CLICK HERE for more safety tips prepared by the 24th District Police.
