Dear Aneinu Members,
This has been a challenging year for Klal YIsroel, on both a personal and national level. We feel overwhelmed by the many cholim, the difficult financial straits, the unique challenges of raising today's children, our uncertain future. The situation in Eretz Yisroel tears at our hearts as the list of terror victims continues to grow, and as we watch yeshivos and frum institutions under attack by anti-hareidi government officials. Russia has demanded that Israel stop its continuous air strikes in Syria, and Hezbollah and Hamas continue their threats. We feel helpless as we worry about our Jewish brethren still trapped in war-torn Ukraine. We are frightened by the growing anti-semitism. We are living in a society that has gone mad, where policemen are vilified, and criminals are treated as if they are heroes. Life cannot go on as usual. Something has to change.
We are now in the time period known as the Three Weeks. It is a time of self-reflection, a time to do teshuvah, a time of DIn. Just as the Three Weeks had begun, last Motzei Shabbos, we received the devastating, earth-shattering, and tragic news that HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Yehuda Levin zt"l had been suddenly taken from us. Our city is in shock. We feel like orphans. A shining diamond has been taken from us. Our world has become darker. Life cannot go on as usual. Something has to change. We have to change.
It is obvious. Hashem is preparing our world for the geulah. We are told that before Mashiach comes the world will be a dark place. We are experiencing that darkness now, but we keep on going because Hashem promised us that there will be light. The Ohr Haganuz. The light that was put away at the beginning of creation. We long to see that light. We long for an end to the darkness. That is why ZIsa ZImmerman Aneinu is having a Tehillim kinus this Sunday morning. We need to show Hashem that we hear Him speaking to us and that we want to change. We need to do something to end this darkness. We need to come together, because when there is achdus there is Hashem's blessing. We all know the power of Tehillim, but that power is magnified a hundred fold when we come together to say Tehillim.
I hope to see you this Sunday morning at 10:30 AM (doors open at 10 AM) at Congregation Adas Yeshurun. May the Tehillim recited bring bracha, refuos and yeshuos to our community, and to Acheinu Bais Yisroel, and may our next gathering be in Yerushalayim where we will come together to praise Hashem for His overwhelming kindness with the coming of Mashiach and the geulah shlema.
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos. B"H the days are long, but it is perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
