'Layehudim haysa orah v'simchah v'sason v'ykar' –The Jewish people experienced light, joy, exultation and adulation. Chazal teach us that each of these adjectives refer to another facet of the renewed acceptance of the Torah; Torah study, Yomtov, Bris Millah, and Tefillin. Why, however, does the passuk not state openly, layehudim haysa Torah etc.? The reason is because, the Torah and the mitzvos were always there, it is just that the Torah was missing its orah, its special light, and through the renewed dedication to the mitzvos out of love, this orah was now supplied. The Purim story left us with a new and everlasting commitment to the Torah and mitzvos, one that could withstand any galus. Never again would we fall asleep at the wheel, and never again would the Jewish nation be threatened with total annihilation to the extent they had in the times of Haman and Achashveirosh.from Bitochon4Life
