Consumers are reminded that every package of food used on Pesach must be checked to confirm that it is Kosher for Pesach.
Please be advised that a small number of jars of Meal Mart gefilte fish bearing a plain OU were distributed in the Chicago area before Pesach together with other Pesach foods. This item is not chometz, but should not be used until after Pesach (since it was produced in a non-Pesach setting).
We would like to remind consumers the importance of checking every single package even if the item was purchased in a kosher l'Pesach section of a store. This includes checking individual labels from a box that says Kosher l'Pesach on the outside.
