Dear Yaakov Chroman,

We hope you are enjoying your learning journey with the Yorucha Program. We're excited to announce our next topic for our valued participants: Yorusha - Inheritance and Wills. This comprehensive sugya will delve into the intricacies of inheritance and wills in halachah and secular law, from source through its practical applications.

Our curriculum will cover:

  • The Orders of Inheritance - דיני ירושה על פי התורה
  • Changing Beneficiaries - העברת נחלה
  • Laws, Customs, and Edicts - דינא דמלכותא, מנהג, ותקנות
  • Wills and Testaments - צוואות

As always, our team of Rabonim and Dayanim, writers and editors have prepared engaging shiurim and personalized guidance to support you in your learning. As you will learn through the topic, many practical scenarios will be addressed, such as:

  • Can a parent leave a substantial portion of their estate to a yeshivah or chesed organization if their children object to being deprived of their inheritance?
  • When both parents of a family pass away leaving sons, including a bechor, does the bechor get a double portion of their assets, and is this entitlement specific to the oldest son or are there exceptions?
  • If a man's will bequeaths his property to all his children equally, but halacha dictates that only the sons should inherit the entire estate, are the sons obligated to honor the will prepared by a lawyer in accordance with secular law?
  • When a parent passes away without a will, leaving both sons and daughters, are the daughters obligated to sign any necessary legal documents for the sons to obtain legal title to the estate's property, even though halacha dictates that the sons are entitled to the entire estate?
