Year of Hakhel

Shavuos, the day of the year when we again receive the Torah, is almost here. And as is appropriate for this milestone, Sichos in English is making more of the Rebbe's Torah, expertly translated to English, available online to the public.

Joining the hundreds of volumes of our seforim available on Chabad.org is our latest release, Selections from Likkutei Sichos - Bamidbar. The fourth volume of the highly-acclaimed set joins the online collection at the perfect time, making this treasure trove of sichos accessible at everyone's fingertips right as we begin to learn these parshiyos.

Most relevant to receiving the Torah on Shavuos is a sichah which discusses the pivotal role of a Torah teacher. In the sichah, the Rebbe focuses on Rashi's explanation of Aharon's sons being called Moshe's children, where Rashi explains, "Anyone who teaches the Torah to another person's son is considered by Scripture as if he fathered him."

The Rebbe clarifies the connection of this concept to the words in the verse, "On the day G-d spoke to Moshe on Mount Sinai," explaining that the possibility for one's instruction to have such a comprehensive effect results from the bond established between G-d, the Jewish people, and the Torah on that day. As such, the sichah provides us with an interesting angle on the significance of Matan Torah, when we become Hashem's students and therefore deepen our relationship with Him.

Thus, as we prepare for the upcoming Shavuos holiday, the message of the sichah takes center-stage.

May we all merit to receive the Torah inwardly and with joy, and may we merit the final geulah, when we will receive the Torah Chadasha that will be taught to us by Mashiach.
