What Your Child Needs From YOU Before Camp

with R' Armo Kuessous

Our children love camp. We love camp. It can be such a powerful time for our children to really develop. However, it's as important as ever to ensure our children are placed in the right environment.

In this week's episode, Rabbi Avi Schnall and Rabbi Shai Markowitz sit down with the legendary Rabbi Armo Kuessous, who is the Menahel of Yeshivat Shaare Torah in Brooklyn and has been the head counselor of Camp Romimu for over 30 years.

We discuss the important conversations to have with children before camp, the balance of chinuch and competitiveness and a whole lot more.

Lauding our Leaders in Lakewood; continued...

"They are worth a million dollars!" says Mrs. Chana Baila Hass, National Director of Bnos Agudas Yisroel. "The work they're doing is tremendous!"

"They" are our outstanding Bnos Leaders. These girls volunteer every Shabbos afternoon, coming out in the cold or the heat to inspire their Bnosers. They're fun, energetic, loving role models. They're learning young how to use their kochos to serve the klal.

This past Thursday BH, Bnos showed our hakaras hatov at a gala end-of-year Leadership Appreciation Event in Lakewood. Over 200 Bnos Leaders from the tri-state area enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner and meaningful program.

Mrs. Sara Issacson began the evening, addressing the Leaders and encouraging them in their avodas hakodesh. Next, girls shared what they gained personally from being a Leader. Finally, we rounded out the event with an exciting game.

It's the least we can do for these incredible girls. Even after high school, our Leaders often continue, becoming Bnos advisors or coordinators. And we're not the only ones who recognize our Leaders' chashivus. High school and seminary principals appreciate Bnos Leaders' experience in taking achrayus and giving to others.

"Our Leaders should appreciate that they're making a difference in the world," adds Mrs. Hass. "They should also feel that their work is part of a greater whole."

Are you a high school girl ready to impact your neighborhood or community? Email Mrs. Hass at bnos@agudah.org about volunteering as a Bnos Leader.
