Kumi Roni Ba'laylah

Our avodas Hashem is critical to the war effort. Upon consultation with members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, we come to you with the following request:

Now that the ground invasion in Gaza is proceeding, it is important that we strengthen our tefillostehillim, and Torah learning. It is especially critical during nighttime hours in Eretz Yisroel, and especially between 6:00 pm CST and 9:00 pm CST, which parallels between 2:00 am and 5:00 am Israeli time. These are the hours when we understand that the main concentration of ground operations are progressing, and while batei medrash and batei knesiyos in Eretz Yisroel tend to be less occupied, or not occupied at all. It would be appropriate for Shuls and Yeshivos to also consider focusing learning and tefillah during those times.

May Hashem heed our tefillos - and may we share besoros tovos.

Atzeres Tefilla with Daf Yomi Siyum

On Sunday evening November 5th, Agudath Israel to Illinois hosted an Atzeres Tefilla marking the shloshim of the Shemini Atzeres massacre and a Siyum in honor of the completion of Seder Nashim and the 100th anniversary of limud Daf Hayomi. The event was attended by several hundred men and women, and was a source of tremendous Chizuk and guidance during these challenging times. The maamad was opened with Tehillim led by Rav Moshe Scheinberg, the Rav of Agudas Yisroel of West Rogers. This was followed by divrei chizuk from Rav Avraham Lipschutz, the Mashgiach of Telshe Yeshiva- Chicago, who spoke about the primacy of limud Hatorah and its strength in being a protection of Klal Yisroel. Then Rav Eytan Feiner, the Rav of Knesses Yisroel in Far Rockaway, gave a riveting Drasha focusing on our obligation to to strengthen our Emunah and Bitachon in Hashem, not only in thought, but also in action. After these words of Chizuk, the Siyum of Nashim was made by Rav Efraim Twerski, the Rav of Khal Chasidim, and the haschala of Nezikim was made by Rabbi Moshe Revah, the Rosh Hayeshiva of HTC.

Two Jewish organizations – the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations – are organizing a mass rally in Washington, D.C. next Tuesday November 14 to show solidarity with Israel and to urge the US government to stand firm in its support.

In light of the ongoing life-threatening danger confronting Israeli soldiers and all of our dear brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisroel, and with great concern about the extremely volatile political climate here in the United States, we feel it is important, midarchei ha'shtadlonus, that there be a large turnout at this event. Accordingly, and in consultation with our rabbinic leadership, we are circulating to our friends and constituents information about the rally.

In the merit of our Torah and tefillah, and carrying out our shtadlanus obligations, may HKB'H hear our cries and protect us from all dangers -- Hashem hoshia ha'Melech ya'aneinu b'yom koreinu!

STC Update

Dear Friends,

These next three days, November 7th-9th, will be the final days of the state legislature's "veto session". I am currently in Springfield, meeting with leaders and legislators, putting forth all our efforts as part of our obligation to engage in hishtadlus to save the Invest in Kids tax credit scholarship program (STC). It is very likely that by the end of this week, we will know whether STC will continue in the future. Of course, the outcome is ultimately up to Hashem, which is why I ask of you to please daven for the best outcome for our community. I'm extremely grateful for your support and engagement throughout this process, as my voice is only as strong as the community behind me. Iy"H we will share besuros tovos very soon.

Click here to keep up the pressure on your legislators!

Yours truly,

Shlomo

Yahalom Chicago Evening of Connection

Yahalom Chicago hosted an "Evening of Connection" for mothers of individuals with special needs at the home of Jeremy and Rebecca Amster. The mothers enjoyed light refreshments while connecting with women who are facing similar circumstances. With some new women attending, along with more experienced mothers, the group spent some time saying Tehillim for the current situation as well as bouncing off ideas and experiences that could be helpful as one navigates the world of having a child with special needs.
