As Pesach approaches, the stories in this month's edition richly reflect the season's profound and timeless lessons -- liberation, resilience, community and faith. Let us celebrate our collective journey and the enduring spirit that unite us all. | • | On April 7, YU had the honor of presenting a "Night of Unity, Solidarity and Story," marking six months since the Oct. 7 attack in Israel. More than 1,000 members of the YU community gathered for shira, tefilah and chizuk, and to hear the inspiring words of Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin -- parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin -- as well as those of rescued hostage Louis Har. Local New York news stations covered the event. | | • | The 31st annual Sarachek Basketball Tournament, hosted by YU, concluded dramatically on April 1 when LA's YULA High School clinched the championship title against Brooklyn's Magen David Yeshivah High School. The eagerly awaited four-day tournament featured over 300 players from 21 leading yeshiva high schools and attracted more than 900 fans. | | • | Students from across the University are flexing their entrepreneurial muscles at YU's Innovation Challenge, a six-week initiative that helps them transform their startup ideas into viable business models. On May 8, the Challenge will culminate in a final pitch competition to a panel of notable VC investors, with the winning team receiving $1,000. | | • | The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution honored Dr. Richard Haass with this year's International Advocate for Peace Award. Past recipients of the award include President Jimmy Carter, President Bill Clinton and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Currently, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Haass has significantly influenced U.S. foreign policy throughout his career. | | • | Finding new pathways to heal in the aftermath of loss was the focus of "Suicide Prevention and Resiliency," an enlightening event where mental health practitioners merged professional insights with powerful personal narratives.
