Q: One night of Chanukah I will be coming home very late and my family will be out of town. If there is no pirsumei nisa, can I fulfill the mitzvah?
A: Dayan Fuerst shlita responds:
Mishnah Berurah writes that he can only recite a beracha on lighting if the members of his household will be up to see his neiros. However, Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach argue that one may follow the opinions that allow one to recite a beracha when lighting so late, even without anyone else present. One should therefore light with a beracha.
