BRI PARSHAH TIDBITS
"And he came upon the place and stayed there overnight"

The sages teach us that Yaakov established the evening prayer, with "came upon" implying prayer.

Yaakov was the chosen of the patriarchs, possessing the power to resolve all disputes facing a person—even in a state of complete darkness, where no way out seems visible.

Yaakov's quality was truth. Sometimes a person is surrounded by darkness, lies, and confusion from all sides, and it appears as if there's no chance of emerging from such a place. Even Abraham and Isaac didn't have the strength to establish prayer in such a situation. They began the process of bringing correction to the world by instituting the morning and afternoon prayers, but Yaakov came and completed it.

When a person walks with truth and prays sincerely to see and know what to do and how to act, he can combat all the negative forces surrounding him. Despite the appearance that in this world, those connected to Torah and mitzvot seem vulnerable, the Torah is truth, and one connected to it through prayer will emerge from all internal disputes within their mind.

May it be HaShem's will that we merit to be saved from all disputes and reach true clarity and simple faith in HaShem and His righteous ones.

Shabbat Shalom,

Chaim Kramer
