BAIS HAVAAD ON THE PARSHA Parshas Chukas 5771- Mumim: Defective Merchandise
A Defective Sheitel and the Chasunah is Tommorow! By: Rabbi Yitzchok Rosedale, Rosh Chaburas Kollel Bais HaVaad, Cincinnati Q: My wife recently purchased a brand-new sheitel for my sister’s wedding. Everything seemed perfect as she wore the sheitel the past few weeks. To our great dismay, my wife just noticed that the sheitel is missing some hair and is effectively a defective product. My wife is adamant about returning this sheitel, but we are in a very uncomfortable bind. On the one hand, tomorrow night is the chasunah, this is the only appropriate sheitel that she has for such an occasion and there is no time left to get a new sheitel in time for the chasunah. On the other hand, she clearly wants to return this sheitel as it has a defect. Is she allowed to wear this sheitel once she has decided to return it, and if she wears it, can she still return the sheitel for a full refund?
