Subject: Coronavirus, You Are Not Alone

B'H

Dear Friend,

Everyone has been impacted in dramatic ways by the Coronavirus Pandemic and there is pain and anxiety in the air. In this email I would like to share some of our responses and suggestions as a community and how we plan on proceeding as we move forward.

Bright Note

First of all on a bright note, yesterday our Hebrew School students enjoyed a virtual experience from the comfort of their own home and with a few additional pets and younger siblings as students, it made for a bright spot in an anxious and shut down world. We plan to supplement the program with sending each family DIY activities and resources.

Community Help & Response

As a community we must be both responsible and ensure Social Distancing to protect the elderly and the vulnerable, but we must also be there to protect them and be supportive to each other in ways that work and are safe. Being alone in your home is not an easy thing in many practical ways, and also it can be very lonely and depressing. To this end, we would like to work on the following initiatives.

1. If you are young and able bodied and are willing to help with shopping and deliveries for those who are confined to their home, please let us know.

2. If you are willing to be part of a group that will call and check in (from your own home) on people and try and strengthen community and help people overcome loneliness, please let us know.

3. If you know of someone who is vulnerable and may need help, please let us know if they consent or won't mind.

Spiritual Response

At times like these when, things are challenging, it is extra important to increase in our acts of spirituality and Mitzvot, and we encourage you to consider making the daily space in your life for some learning, some charity, and some prayer from the comfort of your own home and with your loved ones.

Want to talk or have Questions

If anyone would like to talk or has questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out and we can speak by phone (847-564-8770) or email.

Suggestions

If you have further suggestions as to what we can do as a community and be there for each other please let us know.

We look forward to continuing to work together with all of you to strengthen our community and each other, to be there for those in need, to inspire and teach, and to make sure we go through this challenge with as much strength and positivity as possible.

With best wishes for good health and success to everyone.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Meir Moscowitz
