How is your Pesah prep coming along?

Still need some inspiration for the seder? Why not listen to the #1 rated Koren Podcast?
Available wherever podcasts are found!

Our guest this week is Rabbi Haim Jachter, author of Reason to Believe and Bridging Traditions, to share some of his insight as an Ashkenazi Rabbi leading a Sepharadi community.

Talk ranges from the importance of tradition, what binds all Jews together, what Pesah will be like in the Third Beit HaMikdash (the Third Temple in Jerusalem), and of course some beautiful ideas for Pesah to share at your Seder table (with only the briefest discussion about kitniyot!) Rabbi Jachter is a globally sought-after teacher, Rabbi, Dayan, Eiruv consultant, Get administrator, and author. He was raised in New York and educated in Yeshivat Har Etzion, Yeshiva University, and RIETS. He serves as the Rabbi of Sha'arei Orah, the Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck, NJ.

Rabbi Jachter has two books published by Maggid Books which discuss respectively the fundamental reasons for belief in an Orthodox Jewish tradition and the key differences between the two major Jewish communities and how those differences strengthen the Jewish people as a whole.

This stunning and inspiring work reintroduces Shabbat to those who have grown up with the holy seventh day, as well as to newcomers who wish to gain access to the power of this most venerable of Judaism's traditions.

It provides fresh, innovative readings of core Biblical and Talmudic passages, as well as guidance for expressions such as melody, storytelling, prayer, listening, and silence.

Going beyond merely taking a "day of rest" from technology, we are here invited to explore Shabbat's interior landscape, overcome restlessness, check the urge to accumulate, to move beyond self-cultivation to self-transcendence. On Shabbat we can find a different way of inhabiting the world: appreciation without grasping, perceiving without attempting to incorporate into the self, coming into place and lingering
intently.
