Recording of Last night's shiur Last night, Rabbi Ayreh Kirzner, the Rav of the Agudath Israel Shul in Montreal spoke on the title: The Power of the Summer and The Three Weeks. Did you ever wonder why this period of time, Shiva Asar B'tzammuz, Bein Ha'Mezorim and Tisha B'av come out in the summer? This is a time when people vacation, travel-the churban being the furthest thing from their mind. When we leave our homes, we leave the security of our homes and we travel-we encounter all sorts of situations-long delays at the airport, lost luggage, bad hotel rooms etc-in essence we are in golus. So just as the Ribbono Shel Olam is in golus all the time, but especially in this time period, this is the peak of Hashem's golus. What Rabbi Kirzner explained so beautiflly is that when we are in golus-by all these inconveniences-we become a 'markovo' a chariot to Hashem who is in golus as well. Hashem attaches himself to those in golus all the time, and specifically in this time period. in addition to remember, when you find yourself on your way to 1 destination and you end up in a different destination_ Rabbi Kirzner explained: you're not displaced, you are dispatched.
