Dear Friends, עמו"ש,
I hope this email finds you well, enjoying a beautiful summer bsD.
We all know that the light and the guide of our lives is Torah. We are meant to be preoccupied with the study of Torah at all times. We should all continue our journey to grow in Talmud Torah. And, while Torah study is our predominant focus, Chazal identify that there is also wisdom in the broader world. One place to find this wisdom is in literature.
Our Kollel is on recess for several weeks each summer and also for short times throughout the year. I often use these times for reading; I enjoy the opportunity to expand my mind. The fascinating books I read often help me in my Torah learning and teaching. Sometimes they provide language for traditional Jewish ideas that I have already thought about and sometimes they challenge me to apply my Torah knowledge in new ways. Often, they provide spiritually nourishing lessons and inflection points of inspiration.
I am excited to welcome you into my literary world this summer, as I share with you some of my best reads from recent years together with brief Torah perspectives related to each one. Some are fiction, others are nonfiction. Some may be familiar to you, others are likely less so. I hope you will join me on this journey, subscribe to the podcast and share your feedback with me along the way.
While these books are not Torah, they may contain meaningful wisdom to help us grow closer to Hashem.
Please click HERE to listen, and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Best wishes for a wonderful summer.
