SPECIAL TIMELY EDITION

Baruch Hashem that the Torah, which we were recently reminded was given to us by Hashem Himself, guides us through life day by day, event by event, generation by generation. We are now living through highly perilous times--and we have none other than THE GUIDANCE OF HASHEM AS TO WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING!

This week's Parsha ends with something the Torah later especially instructs us to remember--what Hashem did to Miriam for speaking Lashon Hora (on her level). When one considers how much time in the Torah is spent on the aveiros of murder, theft, and other major transgressions, and the significance placed on Lashon Hora in this week's and next week's Parsha, we should get a sense as to how significant a crime Hashem considers Lashon Hora to be.

There is no such thing as 'coincidence'--because we know that Hashem directs and watches over the world in the way described in the first Ani Maamin. Aside from this week's Parsha directing us in our current events, in today's Shemiras Halshon Yomi (14 Sivan), the Chofetz Chaim specifically writes that THE FIRST STEP in anyone's Teshuva Process is Teshuva in Shemiras Halashon and provides his assurance that V'az Yekubal Teshuvaso--and then all of one's Teshuva will be accepted! For your reference, we present below the actual text of the Chofetz Chaim's teaching:

The summertime is upon us in the northern hemisphere. The summertime may bring along with it an air of vacation, relaxation, less intensity and broader strokes on Mitzvos than are usual for the rest of the year. This year, though, Eretz Yisroel is faced with Iran (Paras) to the East, Yishmael (Pereh Adam, who pride themselves in claiming that they want to die for their cause) both to the North and South, enemies and 'friends' in the West-- including the International Court of Justice and United Nations, and the Eirev Rav internally in Eretz Yisroel who have no problem ripping apart the country with divisiveness instead of unity, and attacking Torah and Torah Sages-- as the country faces massive threats from all directions.

Let us start to do Teshuva in Shemiras Halashon as the Parsha teaches. Once again, the Chofetz Chaim writes that this is the right place to start. As a source of encouragement, instead of thinking that you will make $10,000 for each time you stop yourself or others from using inappropriate words, replace the thought each time with— I hope to save a Jewish life by doing so. Each and every one of us needs to recognize the true importance of his actions, and that he needs to do Teshuva and help K'lal Yisroel.

The soldiers and residents of Eretz Yisroel are being extremely vigilant at this time. We need to be vigilant in the way that we can as well. Additionally, Hashem considers a sincere undertaking, as if the undertaking has already been accomplished (see the enlightening words of Rabbeinu Yonah in Sha'arei Teshuva 2:12 et. al). Please start your Teshuva commitment to be a Shomer--to especially guard your Lashon, and helping others in doing so) today--in fact, please start now.

To Reiterate: We have the Torah's advice in this week's Parsha as to the seriousness of the transgression, and we have the Chofetz Chaim himself (as if in a personal meeting) teaching each of us what we need to do--and that we will be successful in Teshuva if we start here.

May we each do our part, and may we each actually save many, many lives--and witness the YESHUAS HASHEM BEKAROV MAMMASH--KI LISHUASECHA KIVINU KOL HAYOM!
