Subject: [chicago-aneinu] COVID-19 Impact Survey and Update

March 15th 2020
12:00 PM

Dear Community Member,

Many of the community organizations are continuing to meet and plan for the response to COVID-19. We are committed to reacting to these issues and responding as a community - we are in this together and we will get through this together.

While we do have one confirmed case in the community, we would like to remind the community that only a direct contact who was within six feet of a confirmed case needs to go into quarantine based on current CDC regulations.

To review a list of FAQs, please click here. Please bear in mind that this is an ever-evolving situation and physicians may change their advice as things progress.

To best understand and plan for the Chicago community's needs, WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Whether you currently have a need or not, please fill out this two-minute survey.

Additionally, a website will be set up over the next day or two that will share the latest up-to-date information on shuls, schools, restaurants, food delivery resources and other applicable items.

Rabbinic Guidelines - Shuls & Schools
Our community requires continued social distancing. All schools will be closed by Tuesday. Please follow the general guidelines coming out from the community Rabbonim as well as your specific shuls.

Meals for Children
As the schools will be closing this week, the community will be offering drive-through pickup for free breakfast and lunch. The meals will be available for anyone ages 18 and under.
More details and times for pickup will be posted.

Please make every effort to pick up the food. If you have a hardship in picking up the food, we will try to make delivery available through the hotline.

Elderly Needs
As many elderly people are being encouraged to stay home, please call the hotline if there is an elderly person that you know needs assistance with shopping, pharmacy pick up, or needs additional assistance during this difficult time.

Kosher Food and Supplies
Despite continued social media attention to temporarily empty shelves, our stores and distributors do not anticipate problems with their supply chain. We have identified that, as a community, we have sufficient food. We want to ensure that we we have enough matzah as some families' plans to travel have been canceled. Please take our survey linked above to answer this.

While we do not encourage panic buying or hoarding, common sense would suggest not waiting to the last minute to have a reasonable amount of an items available.

For information on where to get Kosher Food items, you can contact the hotline.

Community Help Hotline
224-534-9867
Please call the COVID-19 help hotline to best coordinate ANY need that is not a medical emergency.

Please continue your tefillos for our community. Many people have already been impacted financially and personally and may just need a kind word from their friends or neighbors. Let's all be there for each other and continue to display the achdus necessary to have Rachamei Shamayim to bring about a yeshua for all of us.
